We stayed here back in March 2008 and were really impressed by the level of thought Janet, the proprieter, has put into the property. The house has been renovated and this helps to make it really comfortable. Take for example the bathroom which, although small, has underfloor heating.
The house is decorated tastefully and is peaceful and relaxed. Janet encourages you to make yourself at home. Breakfasts are a real treat with cereal/real scottish porridge (optional) followed by a choice of 3 breakfasts. I stuck with the full english/scottish but there is also the option to have salmon and the third option I forget. All ingredients are either locally sourced, organic or fair trade (right down to the tomato ketchup) and in general all the amenities are of very high quality. Right down to the air freshner provided which is sourced from a US company specialisiing in natural products.
It's this attention to detail and the provision of such high quality amenities coupled with such excellent hospitality that really impresses. With such an excellent rates you can't fault it!
Applecross itself is a lovely place to stay in to get away from it all. For meals I would recommend the Applecross Inn, there's also the walled garden which is good for a change but doesn't have the variety of menu options as the Inn.
