Just returned from our third short break staying at the Applecross Inn. Every visit reinforces our desire to return.
Firstly the location is beautiful. The drives in to Applecross from either the North or South are spectacular. The Pass Of The Cattle for an Alpine style experience or the road through Torridon for the breath taking scenery. The choice is yours however I would experience both on any visit you make. Applecoss is a good base for exploring with spectacular, walking, climbing, sightseeing, water sports etc. The choice is yours.
Applecross Inn, the clue is in the title. This is not a fancy hotel as such but a warm friendly place to eat or stay where it's modest size will ensure you mix with the locals and fellow guests. The rooms are small and traditional, both welcoming and comfortable. The views from the windows reminding you that you are in a special place.
Chances are the visitors will have come from a diverse array of countries far and wide. This all adds to the atmosphere. The friendly staff add to the the banter and are extremely helpful and attentive to their visitors and guests.
The food is simply fabulous, beautifully cooked, sensible portions and offering good value for money bearing in mind the quality. If you are a sea-food buff you will not be disappointed with the freshness of the local catches but neither will those who have different tastes. There is something for everyone. A good selection of ales, whiskies wines etc. will ensure you will not go thirsty. If you stay overnight do not miss the breakfast. Whatever the rest of the day holds for you will enough fuel aboard to deal with it!
In summary this a gem of a place. Clearly good news travels far and wide as even on week days the Inn was very busy and full of atmosphere.
We love it and will certainly return.
