Applecross inn was everything we had hoped for. Judith and the team were welcoming, gave us excellent service and were all customer focused. The Inn itself has a friendly feel to it, full of photos and interesting info to look at whilst in the bar area and is great for people watching. The bar and restaurant staff are highly organised in an incredibly busy place and ensure that all their customers get a table. The food is excellent - seafood linguine the first night and lobster the second night - cannot fault it at all. We were forgotten about the first night and had to remind staff that we were still waiting - as soon as they realised, they sorted out a table and gave us priority, and also gave us drinks on the house. We really appreciated this and the reason for mentioning this in the review is not to complain, but to highlight the excellence of service when things go wrong.
The room was great, room 5, fabulous views even on a wet day. It was comfortable and warm, plenty of storage space and although small, it had great character. We slept well both nights! Breakfast was really good, haddock and poached egg especially so.
We had a really good, wet, walk along the coast road - about 10 miles - and had lunch overlooking the seal colony - calling into the remote shop and post office on our way for lunch supplies. Then went to the Walled Garden in the afternoon for tea.
Really enjoyed the drive to Applecross over the Pass of the Cattle and also the onward journey to Ullapool via the coast road. Had a really relaxing two days - a really unique experience.
