“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

We recently stayed here for 3 nights and the hospitality was excellent, Mark and Nat are amazing hosts and make you feel so welcome, Nat's welcome cupcakes are simply amazing and Mark's Scottish breakfast is absolutely beautiful enough to set you up for the day, the rooms are lovely we stayed in Loch Ness and it was so warm and homely with the option of DVDs, books and board games to watch, play and read as you enjoy your stay there would definately recommend this b & b to all my friends and family also whilst staying here we visited Nessie the Loch Ness monster just around the corner from where we stayed and we made a visit to the highest cafe at the top of Cairn Gorm Mountain which had amazing views.

Will definately be going back to see Mark and Nat in the new year :-)

Hi Kerry and Dan. Wow what can we say what a fantastic review you gave us. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us and it was so lovely to meet you. You both are a truly super couple. We are glad you liked you room and noticed all the extras. Marks breakfasts are proving to be a hit and he is so pleased. As for the cupcakes always think its nice to get something homemade so its lovely when we get comments on them! Sounds like you had a great time up the Cairngorms and know Dan didn't like heights so well done to him!! Looking forward to seeing you again Take care. Nat & Mark

Natalie & Mark are terrific hosts. Our family spent one night here (travelling between Inverness & Loch Lomond); Natalie kindly let us use their kitchen to prepare a simple dinner for ourselves; she also kept us engaged in friendly conversation so we learnt something of Scotland in the process.

The cottage is beautiful and beautifully kept. Facilities are modern & work well. Wifi is easy, fast, and free as advertised. There's the bonus of Holly (the dog), Maisy & Daisy (the rabbits) whom the kids loved.

Hi Lip and Family, it was lovely to meet you all and to hear all your interesting tales of your hometown Singapore. Yes we let you use our kitchen with me taking great interest in what you were cooking but we did that as we are in Winter and had no one else staying in the B&B. Normally we couldn't let guests cook in our kitchen in the busy months as we do get very busy but glad to help out on that occasion. Glad you liked our pets they all love the attention especially Holly!. Hope you enjoy Loch Lomond and see you again. Many thanks Natalie & Mark

This bed and breakfast is a hidden little gem, 10 minutes walk from Fort Augustus. The owners were very friendly and offered many extras at the location. This included, DVD's (by the hundred), games, books, fresh milk in a fridge and the owners even offered to run us to the pub in their own car as it was raining. The house itself if full of character and our bedroom was very large. All of the bedrooms are up two flights of stairs so you will need to be able to climb stairs to stay here.
Upon our arrival, we found two handmade, decorated cup cakes, which were yummy with a cup of tea. The breakfast was also outstanding. There was a great selection and the traditional Scottish breakfast (including haggis) is a must.
Overall a lovely bed and breakfast in a quiet location set in beautiful grounds. We would definitely stay here again.

Hi there, Glad you enjoyed your stay at the Kettle House. We are so happy you liked the cupcakes and noticed all of our homely added extras like the DVD's books games etc. We want you to feel at home and by adding these things we hope to do just that. Yes we are quite a tall house so sadly there are a few steps to the top so I agree you have to be able to walk up steps to stay here but glad to see you felt it was worth it. Many thanks again for writing us a review. Natalie & Mark

Easy to see why this great B&B is ranked No.1 in Fort Augustus and got to be a real contender for top spot on my whole walk along the West Highland and Great Glen Ways between Glasgow (Milngavie) and Inverness.

Fabulous room, great double bed and bath for long soak after walking from South Laggan and back parallel to myself at least a further 2k to get to the Kettle House. The one disadvantage of this property for GGW walkers is that it's virtually the last house on the southern edge of Fort Augustus in totally the opposite direction for northbound walkers and also on the wrong side of the canal to benefit those going south, BUT it is most definitely worth walking ANY extra distance for all the plus points that await you.

Mark and Natalie are wonderful hosts, committed to looking after their guests and providing the perfect environment in which they can relax and enjoy their stay. Mark was kind enough to provide a lift into town for my evening meal and Natalie's recommendation was excellent.

Even if I have to walk, no doubt where I'll be heading next time I'm in Fort Augustus - back to the south side of town!

Hi there,
Many thanks for taking the time to write us a fantastic review. Yes when walking on the great glen way we are one of the last B&B's but glad you thought it was worth walking the extra. We are so pleased you felt relaxed as that it was we always want to create whilst staying in our home. Glad you liked your meal in town and it was the least Mark could do by giving you a lift especially with all that walking you did. We look forward to seeing you in the future. Many thanks Natalie & Mark

Great place, even if a little far to walk to town, where the welcome is warm, the food is great and the place is spotless.
Great for kids with rabbits and open garden and the host is lovely. A great spot to stop on your trip to Scotland!!!

Hi there many thanks for your great review. So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and yes our rabbits do get a lot of attention they are cute. Sorry you felt it was a wee bit far to walk into Fort Augustus we are 0.7mile from the village which takes about 10-15 mins but it is a lovely walk especially if you go by the Golf Course. Thank you for writing such lovely comments and hope if you stop this way again we will see you next time. Many thanks Natalie & Mark

This place is fantastic what a great find. When you arrive up the drive this place does have the Woh factor.Beautiful house in a nice setting with stunning gardens. There is plenty parking space for everyone staying and as it is just out of the village it's very safe and secure.
We were met by Natalie the owner and we have to say she is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. That girl was made for that place she is so friendly and pleasant, and like my other half we think she likes fairies and things like that as the garden has lots of little things in it.The garden has several areas to sit at tables if the weather suits also rabbits and guinea pigs in runs kids would love it.....as we did(lol)
We had a room (4)on the top floor has 3 floors. The room was fantastic ,nice view of the garden ,split level bathroom and it was spotless.Fridge outside the room with fresh milk and you could put your on stuff in it also ie beer or wine???It was like having a little grotto at the top of a castle. We are at a local restaurant and came home not to late, made a cuppa and had one of the best nights sleep in a long time, comfy comfy bed marshmallow style and soooooo peaceful.
Breakfast was lovely and fresh good selection of most things you could want.I have to mention the breakfast is made by Mark(husband)also spot on guy and a wee hi to Holly the friendly dog which is never left to roam.
We are always dubious about staying at guest houses and have only done a couple, but this place is no ordinary B&B and we shall return with no hesitation.BIG THUMBS UP.
Thank you all

Hi Robert and Anne, It was so nice to meet you both and what a fantastic review you have given us it is so lovely to see that we have made your stay an enjoyable one. Thank you so much for saying that Natalie is one of the nicest people you have met she is a bubbly person and does genuinely enjoy meeting new people. You have really put so much detail into this review which so helps others coming to stay here. I adore the "little grotto at the top of a castle" that describes the top area very well. Mark is so pleased you enjoyed his breakfast and Holly says hi back and will be extremely proud that she got a mention! So looking forward to seeing you both again soon and thank you both once again. All we want is for people to share our lovely home and enjoy there stay with us and I think we have achieved that with you both. Many thanks Natalie & Mark

We spent 3 nights at this fantastic B&B in late August 2013. The hosts were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to help us. The room was lovely, the breakfast scrumptious and the B&B is located about a 10 minute walk from several pubs and restaurants in town. Beautiful cupcakes on our arrival and special breakfast settings and beautiful chocolate sweets & a bottle of sparkling wine left outside our room as it was one of our birthdays while we where there. Fort Augustus is a quiet but very delightful village and a great spot to explore Loch Ness and the surrounding areas. We highly recommend this B&B if you are travelling in the area.

Hi Tony and Gillian, Thank you so much for writing us a lovely review. We were so glad you had your birthday with us and even more glad you put a picture on too. We love putting cupcakes in guests rooms as it adds that personal detail. Yes we are only a 10-15min walk from town which make it an ideal place if you want peace and quiet but close enough to Fort augustus as well. We are so happy you have recommended us and hope to see you both again. Many thanks Natalie & Mark
