The famous "Neptune's Staircase" of terraced locks leading to the south entrance of Loch Ness is definitely worth a stop. Entire village oozes quaintness with small B&B's and pubs displaying colorful gardens and flower-filled window boxes. DON'T MISS THE HISTORIC ABBEY WALK across the street from the locks. It's lovely, with the Benedictine Abbey on the right as you walk down to the opening of Loch Ness at the end of the trail;-) We happened upon the walk by accident at sunset, and it ended up being one of those special vacation moments.
