“Very welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

What a lovely B and B! A very warm welcome was given and great reccommendations for dinner in the village. I went to the Boathouse which was lovely but you would need to book to be sure of a space. The room was really good - clean and spacious. I was in the single which, although isn't en suite, does have it's own personal bathroom which was great. Very peaceful and a great night's sleep followed by a great breakfast set me up for the next day. I would definately stay here again. Thanks Elaine and John.

Great little B&B with good views and quiet, clean and tidy rooms. Rooms were big and spacious.

Elaine was very friendly and helpful and suggested a great restaurant for us to try.

Only real complaint is it's a bit far from the town. It's maybe a 5-10 minute drive but it shouldn't discourage you from booking.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your experience here with us a Mavisburn. We are pleased that you found your stay enjoyable.

We do appreciate we are are a bit far out from the village, and we do advise potential guests of this on our advertising, but we feel that the peace and quiet that the area around here has to offer is worth the extra 5 minutes drive.

Thanks again and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip.

Kind regards
Elaine

We arrived a little later than anticipated.... well to be fair to John and Elaine we were hugely late. Despite this we did not receive the frosty welcome we felt we deserved but the warmest welcome we have ever received anywhere. After the usual "you can take the shed" jokes we felt immediately at home. This home is immaculate. We were in the family room and it felt as though we were the first ever guests to occupy! The cleanliness continued throughout. The breakfast room, table, cutlery and crockery were impeccable. Breakfast was amazing The thing is there are only the two of them achieving these such high standards. These guys work their socks off!.We only stayed one night prior to moving on to Inverness for our cruiser hire., which we will be doing again and shall not hesitate to stay here again. Yes John and Elaine we survived it!! Thanks Bev Steve Ross

Wow! Thank you so much for such a glowing review!

You were not that late really, although I was in the process of preparing the shed for you all! Seriously, John and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and we are also pleased to read that you didn't sink the boat or get stuck in the Locks on your cruise down Loch Ness and beyond.

It was a pleasure to meet you all and again we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay here with us and of course your cruise around the area too.

Kind regards
Elaine & John

Only stayed for one night but would happily stay for longer. Huge bedroom and residents lounge with a large choice of DVDs to watch if you wanted them.

Were greeted with coffee & biscuits and then given some useful info on where to eat in the town (ended up having fish & chips by the locks - brilliant chippy!).

Breakfast was fantastic .. though Elaine was determined to feed us more ahead of our Ben Nevis attempt (I do think the sausage sandwich was the main reason we made it to the top...) John & Elaine couldn't do enough to look after us, but without being intrusive ... perfect balance.

Overall, it's a smashing B&B and i wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

thanks!

Thank you so much for your kind comments and I am so pleased to read that you actually made it to the top of Ben Nevis! Well done to the both of you - it must have been the sausage sandwiches that made all the difference!

Thank you again and it was a pleasure to meet you both.

Kind regards

Arrived in the evening to a very welcoming John who gave us great recommendations for dinner in the village. Returned to a couple of quit gins in front of the fire with Elaine before retiring to a fantastic nights sleep.
Sensational breakfast prepared by John capped off our short visit perfectly. Would have stayed another night if we had had the time.

Elaine and John have set up a magnificent bed&breakfast, providing all the modern cons without compromising the quaintness and real homeliness of the area and their own home. They provide different breakfast options for each morning, all cooked wonderfully by John, are incredibly generous with their knowledge of the area. They feed the birds each morning, and it's like you're living the opening cinderella scene from Disney where the birds actually talk to you. It's truly wonderful, and incredibly tasteful. We stayed in the 'red' room with ensuite, and we were very pleasantly surprised by how well decorated it was. Very clean, very tidy, very efficient, very helpful, very discreet, very pleasant. When we left, we managed to leave behind a set of our own house keys and an oyster card. Elaine was immediately in touch with us and 2 days later an envelope arrived with both in it. Honesty goes a long way-We would go back again in a heart beat.

John and I are delighted that you both found your 'perfect getaway' here at Mavisburn. Thank you so much for the wonderful comments and yet again I note that the birds haven't let us down!

It is also good to see that the keys and Oyster card arrived safely back to you in good time.

Once again, thank you so much for your kind comments, we both appreciate them very much.

I hope we can welcome you back to Mavisburn again one day.

Best wishes

Elaine and John
