I had walked the 21 or so miles up the Great Glen Way from Fort Augustus, so yes, that last bit from the main road to Glen Rowan was hard. However I was warmly welcomed by Alistair, offered refreshment while he went over the choices of local restaurant for evening meal. 5 minutes later he had booked another guest and I a window table over looking Loch Ness, and they were sending a car to pick us up at 6.30pm. You would never guess he used to be a policeman.
My room was comfortable, with an excellent ensuite with shower. The little basket with toiletries, not only had the usual shampoo etc, but a disposable razor and some other things ladies might need. Nice extra attention to detail that I have not come across elsewhere.
Breakfast again has Alistair doing front of house in tartan breeks - pants for our American cousins - and to Scottish country dance music. After cereals and juice, there is smoked salmon and scrambled eggs if you wish it, although I want for they full Scottish. Between courses, Alistair had run some other guest down the road to Castle Urquhart. Vanessa, who does the real work in the back ground, is also very friendly and charming.
Drumnadrochit is the centre of the monster indusrtry, and is about half a mile up the road. There is a large variety of eateries, and a samll selection of shops. Certainly in the season, eating out seemed quite expensive in most places, but I would recommend the 3 mile trip up the loch to Cobbs Restaurant in the Clansman Hotel. And the view from that window table was absolutely stunning
Vanessa and Alistair work really hard to stand out from the B & B Guest House crowd, and I am sure if you visit them, you will not be disappointed.
