We stayed for a 4 night Shearings break. Staff very friendly. Food excellent with a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian each night. could do with a little updating and showing signs of being affected by damp around the window frames in our room. Entertainment area was overwhelmed by number of guest and on two nights we were unable to get to the enterainment.

There was a medical emergency with one of the guests whilst we were there that was dealt with very professionally.

I would certainly visit again.

We stayed at the Bay Dornoch Hotel October 14th - 18th 2013.. we arrived in the dark after leaving Warrington an hour late, then diverted off the M6 ( no ones fault, it happens) our room was, well should I say a let down ? yes it was, room 202.. ugh ! cracked wash basin bathroom suit in 1970s dull cream, with knocks out of the bath side panel, bath slip mat, full of mould on the underside !! twin beds not that comfy, and were very narrow.. had to keep curtain closed as windows were not double glassed.. really cold drafts from that.. hotel downstairs was lovely, except the dining room, oh dear that really needs new windows (again cold drafts) ceiling had plenty of leak patches, overall very dated, needs updating.. tables were sticky... menu,.. poor choice, poor quality, looking forward to strawberry cheesescake, came out wet and soggy... on a better note, you couldn't fault the staff they were amazing, very helpful ... coach trips out were ok enjoyed those..

Room Tip: book rooms that have been updated would be a good choice, not those on the right hand side of the ho...

We stayed here for 4 nights, very welcoming staff, as help full as they could be, the food was, quite good, the rooms, clean ,the downside would be that it is out-dated, very disapointed in the fact our room has no shower, not even over the bath. After asking at reception for a room with shower, and double bed, we were told they had only twin beds, but were given the chance to use the shower in another room. It was still a good stay.

We found the Dornoch Hotel to be a comfortable place to stay.We were there on a dinner bed and breakfast basis. The food was tasty but being a bit greedy I would have liked larger portions. However the portions were big enough for my wife. The room was a decent size, warm and comfortable. There was an en-suite bathroom which had a bath but no shower. As the majority of the guests were knocking on a bit I think most would have appreciated a shower more than a bath.Getting out of the bath is not easy when you are growing old.The service at the hotel was excellent it could not be faulted and all the staff we encountered were friendly andhelpful.

Dear JohnW

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. Having a "larger than average" appetite myself (sounds better than greedy) please do not hesitate to ask for a little more. This winter we are installing more showers that will leave us with the majority of rooms having them.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Dornoch in the future.

A group of seven mature motorcyclists had a lovely two nights at the Dornoch Hotel.
We've used this hotel several times before so we know that it has a high standard for everything.
Excellent value of £94 for two nights half board.
it is quite central for touring the far north of Scotland.
Staff were good . Excellent food. Entertainment was enjoyable.
We visited CROICK church which is about 8 miles west of Ardgay/ Bonner Bridge.. Croick church was involved in the 1845 clearances when 18 crofters were evicted to make room for sheep. The families took shelter outside the church and they scratched messages on the windows, showing how badly treated they were.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea view cost a bit more. But we didn't spend a lot of time in the room.
