“Best Hotel for 2007!”

I stayed in the Glynhill for three weeks in November into December 2007, with work.

I think this must be the best Hotel I have stayed in so far in 2007 (read my other reviews!)

The Hotel is warm and spacious and the rooms I stayed in were excellent. Modern and spacious and well lit (I've read older posts on here)
The Hotel does have lots of steps and is a heady mix of older buildings and new extensions.

The food was good - all the usual ingredients for a hearty cooked breakfast as well as healthier options.
I ate in the bar one evening and the food was very nice - cooked fresh to order and the service was great.

I found all the staff to be very helpful, friendly and professional.

There is a slight noise from the road and the airport but I found I got used to after a few nights.

Oh yes, I couldn't figure out why there was a double bed but there were two single duvets on the bed with a 'throw' over the join??

My family and I stayed here for one night, two adults and two children. We got a deal for £79 bed and breakfast for the four of us, very reasonable.
The hotel is very easy to find off the M8 motorway. Check-inn was quick and painless, our room was ready for us at 12 noon. The room was very spacious, even for the four of us.
We decided to have lunch in the hotel before heading off. Big mistake. It took 45 minutes for our snack to be served. All we ordered was three sandwiches and a plate of nachos and they even forgot one of the sandwiches.

The bar prices were way overpriced but there is a small bar near the leisure centre which is a lot cheaper.

The breakfast is buffet style, and the choice is ample. Plenty of fruit, cereal and traditional fry-up, very nice indeed.

Summing up, a very comfortable stay despite our problems at lunch time.

“Very Nice Hotel - go for the white rooms!”

The room (#154) was very nice (if a little small) and had freeview tv and a flat screen. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept on in a hotel.

The staff were very pleasant, and the check in/out process simple. The restaurant looked very nice and stylish, though we did not eat there.

At the time of the visit, the Glynhill is mid upgrade. The rooms in the white wing had been upgraded (like mine) and were great. If you get a blue room, they have NOT been updated, and are not all that good. i understand that there are plans for the other rooms to be done eventually.

There is a sports bar next to the hotel, and a 2-4-1 pub about 200 yards away from the hotel.

A great hotel - so long as you get a revamped room!

“not a great hotel for UK standard”

The Glynhill Hotel & Leisure Club

I arranged for a group to stay in this hotel in Sept 07 and was disappointed as to how they treated the drivers.
Even though having booked a proper room for the drivers, the drivers were put in a room which was a meeting room converted to a bed room. With no ensuite facilities and loads of cupboards for storage facility. The hotel staff says that the drivers have to use the communal bathrooms outside the room which apparently was restricted to ladies!!!
The hotel staff had shown no empathy and co-operation to resolve the situation!
I cant understand that in these ages there is still the master and servants difference in a developed nation, UK!!!!
Eventually the drivers had to stay in another hotel at their own costs!!!

We stayed at this hotel because it is 1 mile from the airport and we had early flights out the next morning. It is very clean and nicely furnished. We would not stay there again for several reasons: first, it was a very warm day and there was no air conditioning. Our room was uncomfortably hot and the windows barely opened enough to catch any breeze. Second, we were on the first floor (second floor for us Americans) and there are restaurants, bars, banquet and conference rooms on the ground floor; we had to leave our windows open for any sort of breeze overnight and there was much noise from the events going on below us, as well as lots of traffic noise. Maybe a room facing out the back of the building would have been quieter.
Iron and ironing board, coffee maker, and hair dryer in rooms.
