Not suitable for a holiday. It is a car park with rooms. Hotel clean and undergoing some refurbishment. Bar slightly better than useless. Two staff who were very slow took 30 mins to serve 6 customers. Food ok but again had a wait which was explained to us when we ordered. On check out both me and my friend were overcharged. We had to bring it to the attention of the reception staff who then, with no appology, corrected their error. Breakfast was fine but staff very dour, a smile would be nice.

The Normandy was close to where we had to be and cheap, but that's about all I could say in it's favour. Had to stay 3 nights - no time off for good behaviour.

The double bedded room was the smallest I've stayed in, with totally inadequate storage space. (Worse even than budget Paris hotels, but they at least have some style).
Was woken every morning at 5 by the symphony laid on by the central heating system. I only had the breakfast once, toward the end of the time slot. The cooked food was bad, mostly dried up from being on the hot plate too long, or stone cold from not being on a hotplate. A much better breakfast was to be had at a supermarket's instore eatery at the nearby Braehead shopping centre

Parking - which a lot of people going on holiday from the nearby airport seem to use in conjunction with a one night stay makes for another unforgettable Normandy moment.

Abysmal.

I don't know if the staff treat you to a bit more information if you're leaving your car long term, but for us staying 3 nights it was a case of hunt the space every night. Provision of space is totally inadequate, mostly ended up in the disused (and therefore pitch black and uninviting) industrial units' car park spaces that they seem to have broken into. Saw the attendant once, and that was only when he told me where I should'nt park.

Best plan - bulldoze it flat and start again.

My future visits to the area - stay somewhere else that has space for guests and their cars.

“Wouldn't Stay Again”

I stayed in the Normandy Hotel twice recently, once in June and once in July. My experience the first time was for business and went smoothly enough that I went back for a personal trip - mistake. On my arrival in July, my husband and I were left standing for several minutes at the reception desk whilst 2 staff attempted to 'find' our booking. At no time did they communicate with us whatsoever - we were left so long we began to think we needed to leave to try to find somewhere else to stay! I was taken aback at the lack of basic customer service. When eventually they managed to find us a room, it was in very poor condition. Dirty, bed caved in the middle, decor VERY shabby. The only positive part of the stay was breakfast - bright cheery room, decent food selection - but again the staff were borderline rude. To sum up: I won't be going back.

We stayed for two nights at The Normandy and found it excellent value for money having booked it late, via a trustworthy website. We did note the cost of rooms displayed at the reception desk which were very much higher.
Plus points:
Comfortable rooms, clean bathroom, good location (1 mile from airport so planes do fly over but not intrusive).
Breakfast choice excellent: full English, continental, fruit, yoghurt, toast etc all available.
Negative points:
Some tatty areas, a good lick of paint would transform parts of the hotel which look dated.

We stayed in this hotel with a 15-day parking, Dinner B&B package before flying out of Glasgow airport early in the morning.

The carpark was quite crowded, but check-in procedures were swift.

The room was OK - practical and quite clean but showing signs of wear and tear.

The restaurant where we had dinner was large and service was efficient, with quite a good and varied menu to select from. But beware that if you book Dinner, B&B you are told that you have a certain allowance to spend and have to cover everything on top. Drinks are also extra. But with prices being reasonable we managed to fit a two-course meal into our allowance without problems.

Transport to the airport was fast and ahead of time in the morning, but with quite a long wait on the way back.

Overall staying in the Normandy can be a good deal for a night, if you are travelling from Glasgow airport. But maybe look at other options if you really care about room decor and everything being to the highest standard.
