“LUNCH BY THE LOCH”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

We all went to the Four Seasons Hotel restaurant for Sunday lunch and were very happy with the food quality and service. Although it was a wee pricey - to borrow the term - it was a pleasant way to dine with a wonderful view of the Loch. Booking is essential as it can get very busy as the Sunday lunches are popular.

“Ecellent Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

I ate hear with my 9 year old daughter. The prices in this area are usually very expensive, so it was good to find this hotel which had a restaurant and a bistro. The Bistro prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. I had a seafood pasta, which was absolutely delicious and came with an excellent salad and was about £14. My daughter had 2 courses for £5.50, you could also have 3 courses on the childrens menu for £7.50 which was excellent. The view over Loch Earn was to die for. Very pleasant meal.

“Best view in Scotland?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

This is a stunning hotel overlooking Loch Earn. The staff are friendly and helpful and the wines and whisky's varied and good value.
Our meal was excellent - the 'well done rib eye' that I ordered was just that, without any waste/ fat whatsoever and had remained juicy and bursting with flavour. The chips were home-made, crispy and delicious.
Children's menu was good - healthy melon starter and the main course of fish and chips was golden and proclaimed to be 'gorgeous' by my seven year old. My partners beef casserole was again full of flavour and the accompanying seasonal vege were cooked to perfection.
The restaurant itself has a nice relaxed feel - highly recommended and not just because of those amazing views!

“Vegetarians Beware!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

On arriving late lunchtime there was none around.. after finding someone we were shown to the dining area waiting room. We asked for vegetarian options and were handed a bit of paper with dishes on it most of which stated that they included Parmesan cheese. PARMESAN is NOT vegetarian and therefore is NOT suitable for vegetarians. We opted for a cheese free option, however, when the dish arrived there were small hard boilled egs on the plate, the description of the dish did not state these, had it then we would have not ordered.

The waitress was friendly enough however the dining room had all the ambiance of a morgue. The music which one strained to hear (this could be a good thing give Ave Maria is not my choice for lunchtime) as it was too low. However, one could hear clearly the people at the farthest end of the dining room discuss their life in great detail!

Never again!

“Very good, a jewel without being rude in the rough food wise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

We dined here last year and the food was just lovely but I think it was as good or better this year. The serving charming dynamo that was Scott has unfortunatelynow lost to London, certainly added to the appeal of our dining experience.Homely, friendly with quick delivery of courses which is probably down to the kitchen, maybe the the real star has to be the food and the Chef who twice bearing in mind we are keen eaters in top establishments in Edinburgh and beyond they twice have tantalised our pallets with one of the best steaks I have ever eaten/desserts/starter.Basically even though the Tarken Bar/Restaurant has some incongreous decor and pictures, the high standard and quality of the food make these elements endearing. Please keep up a good standard of good service to accompany the excellent quality of food.PS Double added bonus ball , woofers are allowed in the bar to sit with their owners in the bar while their owners eat the same delicious food. Please keep it going.
