“Fantastic Fortingall”

Fortingall Hotel

Sep 12, 2007

Both my fiance and I stayed at the this fantastic hotel in March for 3 nights and could quite easily stayed longer. The room 'Remony' was great, high standard furniture with little extras that made the difference. The meals were out of this world and I had the best steak I have ever had. Cannot wait to go back next year.

“Fastastic hotel and delicious dinner”

Fortingall Hotel

Sep 4, 2007

We will remember for ever this fastastic hotel and the delicious dinner. The location is relaxing, you can see the lambs, the mountains, the church and the yew tree from the bedroom´s window. I loved the decoration of the publics rooms, the lounge bar, the public bar, the yew tree room, the dining room ...as it´s said in their web "traditional but with a contemporary feel".

We only stayed one night but the place deserves a longer stay. Our room was the Chesthill, beautifully decorated and very lighty. And what to say about the dinner: it was the best dinner we had in Scotland, very good served, and delicious wine and dishes, thanks to the manager Ellie Edgell, the chef Ashley Miles and his team, that recomended us a great choice. Ellie was very kind. Also congratulations to the lady who livened up with her harp and songs during the meal.

We would like to come back someday.

“Fabulous hotel in Fortingall”

Fortingall Hotel

Although I only stayed at thos hotel for one night, in August, having trawled the internet looking for that perfect combination of room, facilities and location, thank goodness I chose Fortingall.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. The setting is beautiful - gorgeous countryside, not too far from Aberfeldy. The hotel itself was refurbished around 2 years ago - and it is apparent that no expense has been spared. It is extremely comfortable, and retains the period features really well. Obviously a lot of thought and care has gone into choosing the finishings and furniture.

You get a really warm welcome from friendly staff (who don't have any of that stuffy attitude that you sometimes get in these upmarket hotels). The reception area is lovely, with a library to one side, with a supply of books and local information, maps, etc., and a sitting room to the other side - both with comfy old furniture. There is a formal dining room plus a separate breakfast room, looking out onto the well cared for gardens.

The bedroom was gorgeous - not massive, but really comfortable and pretty, with large, comfy bed, free standing antique style furniture and flat screen TV. A nice touch is a decanter of whisky for you to enjoy. The bathroom was immaculate with lovely scented Arrran Aromatics toiletries. The view from the windows is spectacular and the peace and quiet bliss.

Another great feature is the bar in the hotel - the bar tender was excellent, there is a really good range of drinks, and the style is very casual, with additional seating outside to enjoy the sun when it's here. Ate dinner in the bar and the food was superb.

The breakfast was excellent, with a fairly large choice, all with a distinct Scottish theme.

The hotel made up a picnic lunch the next morning for me to take - really helpful.

So, all in all, I can honestly say this is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at and can't recommend it highly enough. Will definitely be back!

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing stay at the Fortingall Hotel.
Our room was Remony and was very comfortable, clean and spacious with a view across the fields opposite the hotel to the hillside. The local whisky in our room completed the friendly welcome.
The staff were (without exception) friendly and helpful. One of the waiters even stayed up till 1:30am to ensure that one group of "loud" guests went to bed without disturbing the rest of the guests too much. He was there serving our breakfast at 8:30am the next morning!
The food was wonderful though (on the 2 nights we were there at least) there was a strong emphasis on seafood so it might be worth checking what else is on the menu if fish is not your thing!
The atmosphere in the restaurant was both professional and informal at the same time so you could dress as smartly or as casually as you wanted without feeling out of place.
We had an excellent weekend and hope to think up another reason to go before too long!
