“2 star standard at 4 star prices”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2009

From the off hand check in by disinterested and unhelpful reception staff, to the rock hard pillows, to the tea towel like swimming towels this hotel is ungracious and in no way luxurious.
Our newly refurbished bedroom was bland and gloomy. The leisure centre which encompasses all the other facilites is extremely tired in its decor, cluttered and tatty. There is no way to go from the hotel to the swimming pool without having to use the changing rooms, which are very basic, and inferior to those provided in most municipal pools. Despite the glorious landscape surrounding the hotel, breakfast is served in the totally windowless restaurant.
Haing arrived from a 5 star hotel in Edinburgh that cost almost the same per night, it is obvious that this hotel benefits from having no competiton in the surrounding area.
It is not cheap and it is not good
Beware; there is 100% non refundable deposit.

My husband and I stayed one night in this hotel as a treat to ourselves (lucky me!). I got a good deal on the room and was told when I booked it that the rooms were all recently refurbished (Nov 2008). The body of the hotel holds the pool and two restaurants, however the plush new rooms are in a separate building 20 yards from the hotel entrance. This means that you have to walk outside to get to the pool, bar etc, which was not a problem in March. The hotel room was lovely (room 7). High speck and lots of space - everything was brand new.
The pool and the sauna had not been refurbished but were still fine.
We did not have a meal in the hotel, deciding to venture out to the town of Aberfeldy. Be warned - two of the pub/restuarants had chefs who were off sick or who had not showed up for work (Black Watch and I forget the other one's name).
In the morning the hotel supplied a fantastic breakfast - my husband reckoned the best hotel breakfast he has ever had......compliments indeed.

My wife & I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a larger group.
Lovely room was excellent - large, very nicely presented, furnished & decorated, & clean. Very comfortable. Everything felt & smelt new. Huge bathroom with large shower cubicle & double ended bath. Only oddity was a large illuminated fire exit sign IN the room which emananted an eerie green glow at night - not great if you like a dark room at night (I got over it by covering it with a towel to dim down the light). Normally these are in corridors - not in the rooms.

OK smallish swimming pool & steam room free for guests.

Breakfast pretty good & enough choice.

We had a package with Table d'Hote dinner & the dinners did not suit my personal taste. A lot of with this or that strong alcohol sauces, or glazed with something or other & I struggled to find a choice for most courses. I prefer my food simpler but its a personal thing. Some of our group ageed with me, others liked it - it depends on your taste.

Located on edge of Aberfeldy & a good base to tour this nice area. Plenty of car parking. Quiet location. No noise at night.

I would definitely stay here again for a short break but I would take dinner elsewhere.

Just back from Moness. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit - the Gatehouse. It was very well decorated and equipped and spotlessly clean. Among the best self-catering accomodation we've had.

The Hotel itself has undergone a recent refurb and looks attractive. There is a small leisure centre with pool more suitable for children rather than a serious swimmer.

We ate in the 'Farragon' restaurant last night - food was good and staff v helpful in assisting our daughters to choose what to eat ! V short inexpensive wine list - could perhaps benefit from a little more choice.

Moness is a short walk from Aberfeldy village. Seems to be plenty of cafes for lunchtime eating but a definite lack of establishments offering evening meals - perhaps closed due to the time of year.

We had fish and chips from a takeaway on 'the Square' - avoid ! Possibly the worst take out meal we've ever had.

A good base for exploring highland Perthshire. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

From : Mumbai , India

Stayed at moness country club , Aberfeldy , scotland for four days in the month of June 2008.
We went as aFamily of 8 booked apartment thro' hotel website.
Very GOOD renovated cottage apartment , we never expected the rooms to be better than what is seen on the website.
Staff was very helpful, as we drove from London and reached very late almost past Midnight !!The reception person not only guided us right thro' but recd us with a big smile at 12 midnight.
Town is just a few min walk , we get good grocery (like coop. etc)
there are many activities nearby e.g. river rafting, wine making , and everything in scotlandis about 2 to 3 hours of drive.
has a clean indoor pool / jacuzi mini golf ... i could go on.
Dis adv.: Away from Edinburgh ( 90 Miles) 1 1/2 hours drive.
highly recommen a friend
