The accommodation here is of quite a good standard. We were in the largest of the rooms, No.6 which (like all of the rooms) was bright, clean and nicely done. The only complaint in this department being an ill-fitting bathroom door that needed a real slam to close properly!
We did quite enjoy our stay here, but it was let down by there not being any bar meals on offer during the day or in the evening, despite there being a big sign up on the road nearby saying that it did "all year round". There was nowhere else open for food in St. Margaret's Hope, so it was a bit mean of the Murray Arms not to offer to rustle up a few chips, beans on toast or something after us travelling a long way to get there.
We arrived around 8pm and when we asked Graeme (the chap in charge) about the possibility of a bar meal, we were told that that wasn't possible due to it being quiet and the chef/cook not being here. He kindly booked us into a hotel in the next village 'The Sands' who agreed to stay open for us. They served good food and were really friendly.
A few minutes after we'd asked about food, my other half went down into the bar to ask Graeme something, and there were two people tucking into meals! He was told that those meals had been prepared because they had just finished work or some such! Maybe the sign should be altered to read "bar meals available for locals all year round?"
He wasn't an unpleasant man he just seemed a little disinterested which didn't make us feel the most welcome. In his favour, he was very nice to our dog and the breakfasts he made us were good.
I'd say stay here, but only in the summer when the kitchen is fully functioning.
