“Fine Dining Experience .”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Went on a wet Thursday night. As we entered the Bar/Grill we were met with a roasting hot blow heater and after venturing through the luxurious Velvet curtains into the dimly lit lounge area we were met with a smile at the bar from the cocktail waiter who made a lovely white chocolate Martini . We were seated just after our reservation time of 6pm and ordered 2 steaks and a bottle of Rioja .The wine was the best I have had in a while and reasonably priced at 27 nicker .The main was cooked excactly how we ordered Charred on the outside and pink in the middle .The onion rings and chips were that light I felt that they could have floated away .

Our server Gary was very attentive polite and personable top marks young man and a bonus point for the complimentery Champagne which was delicious .

We had not been in a while but will be back very soon as it was a pleasant dining experience .

This hotel is deceiving it's off the motorway , but when u arrive at the reception a fab open fire where u can sit around is great. It's dark , very dark inside but this adds the the ambience of this little quirky place. Our room was ample with a glass window wall to wall looking over Glasgow, the manager left a note with cookies which I just loved in our room. The shower is massive too. In the evening we has 3 courses with wine and the deal we received was twenty pounds per head towards our meal , this was lovely we had steak cooked very well. Then onto some cocktails which were great too.
All in all great hotel, staff very helpful and friendly, modern twist and great finer details. I am a nurse and have got lots of people to go to this hotel, I should be on commission . We will defo return ...thanks Dakota .

I remembered a friend saying how good the food and ambiance was at The Dakota as they went for lunch. Upon looking at the reviews and their web, I decided to have a Dinner B&B package treating to myself.
Pretty good motor side hotel, in fact you can't hear the traffic, which concerned me at first. The rooms are very comfortable, pleasantly decorated and quiet. Super to just chill. Dinner and breakfast very good. Very business class during the week, with couples, small parities at the weekend.
Would recommend a visit to get away from it all, or an excellent airport stopover. Love the ambiance, very American, but hey I love Mal Masion...

It's like walking into a hollister shop. Barely any lighting. That's the downside over with. On the plus side food is lovely. Rooms are sufficient with a walk in shower. Tv too small though and the usual awful signal you get in a hotel. Free view choices limited. Hot breakfast is not a buffet but you do get to pick from a menu but add it to your stay don't buy it in the morning as it's cheaper :)

Definitely stay again but only if work pays for it. Bit pricey considering where you are (industrial park out of town)

For the last few years my wife and I have went to the Hilton in Glasgow for our anniversary but this year we left the booking too late and it was full due to the mobo awards nearby.
I searched for hours to find a local hotel and came across the Dakota.
The web page pictures and reviews where lovely although the page was really lacking lots of information .
The hotel bar and mingle area is small, there is no bar as such as you have to have table service and a long, long, long wait ( best part of 20 minutes ) to get a drink. At an average of £ 12 for 2 drinks I expect more. ( no tip left )
The restaurant food and service was faultless. ( tip left )
The rooms are very clean and presentable,The beds are very very comfortable , the bathrooms are lovely but small , the use of mirrors enhances the web pictures, and plastic sinks ? why?
the tv whilst having sports channels is limited.
There is no point in paying extra for a superior room as it has nothing that a standard room does not other than a full glass window and a boring look in a different direction.
The hotel as such has limited facilities. A tiny gym. No pool. No spa. No leisure areas No breakfast in your room , No newspaper service , no local information , in fact not a lot of anything and a local walk would be around a modern industrial estate.
I do not wish to sound too negative as the hotel is lovely...but it is for business people and under no circumstances for a romantic weekend.
And my biggest bug bearer of this hotel is that if you wish to pay by debit card and not credit card you have to pay for your room on arrival , restaurant balance before leaving the table and bar table service on delivery of your drinks.
THE HILTON IT IS NOT.

Room Tip: All standard and superior rooms are the same , only the window and view are different.

Dear anna b

Welcome to Trip Advisor.

You are absolutely right, big hotel chain WE ARE NOT – we do not compare ourselves to big brand hotels, boutique chains or otherwise – Dakota is something completely different.

Where we have a mainly business clientele midweek we welcome many couples enjoying romantic breaks and celebrating special occasions at the weekend. Newspapers are delivered to rooms on request and we offer breakfast in bed, again if the guests advise they would like it.

A pre-authorisation is taken from a credit card on arrival, we stopped doing this with debit cards as, dependent of the bank, it caused an inconvenience for our guests while waiting for funds to become available – I’m sure the reception team explained this on check in and it is also clearly stated on the reservation confirmation.

I am delighted you had the opportunity to sample the fantastic restaurant and hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the very near future.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if I can be of any assistance.

Kind regards

Ceri

We have just returned from a 5 day break to see friends and relatives in Coatbridge and surrounding area. We stayed at the Dakota Hotel, Eurocentral, and following so many previous experiences of British Hotels, were apprehensive. We can not stress highly enough, that the accommodation, facilities at the hotel and the staff were all excellent. Without exception, the staff were friendly and professional at all times, and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning in the very near future. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Stayed here last week for one night, great modern hotel with good food and breakfast but on the side of the M8, the main motorway between Glasgow & Edinburgh the noise at night from the motorway made quality sleep impossible great shame, I will not stay again!

Dear parpot

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback on TripAdvisor – I am disappointed to read that we will not have the opportunity to welcome you back again.

We have east facing rooms towards the rear of the hotel if our guests advise they would prefer to be further away from the M8 and we would have been delighted to move you bedrooms to ensure a relaxing night’s sleep. I am further saddened we did not have the opportunity to rectify this at the time when you clearly enjoyed the experience within the rest of the hotel.

Kind regards

Ceri
