“reaonable but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

A fair hotel - but not as good as some in England. The room was clean and in good condition although I thought the lighting a little dull. Check in was OK and fairly quick. The restaurant was a little disappointing - food average, service friendly though a little slow but, as a previous reviewer said, no cask ales. The Best Bitter really wasn't! The restaurant was changing its wine supply (so they said) and could not actually provide a wine list. The waitress had to find out what was actually on sale.

The rooms are neat but the linen does not smell nice, though they are clean. the biggest problem is the lack of places to dine. the only restaurant has atrocious service. In spite of complaining about it, nothing has changed and no one is bothered.

First of all make a note that Newhouse is not Motherwell which will save you confusion. It was Easter and the first of three nights it was almost empty, we had started off a 5am so didn't want to go far to eat so tried the hotel restaurant. It is obviously pre packed and sourced to a budget and this shows, typically it is overcooked, no source given and although service is usually good the reception in Table Table ( and these are supposed to be the better of their range)restaurant was positively rude. Table service no worse than you would expect, amazing that Whitbreads promise to have at least one cask beer at each hotel falls off north of the border, not one real ale British beer even in a bottle. The second and third nights were more busy and we were awakened at 6 each morning by someone upstairs setting off I presume for work and although people try to be quiet most of the time you are still aware of doors opening and closing. Bed comfortable, miserley 30 mins free wifi time, why not free, the rack rates at Premier Inns plus breakfast plus Wifi make them very expensive other than when you can catch a cheapo deal.

Room Tip: if you can manage stairs , there is no lift try upstairs as at least there will be no one above you...

The service at this Premier Inn was second to none. We (a bride and her four bridesmaids) stayed at this hotel (2nd March) the night before the wedding and the hotel staff went above and beyond to see that things ran smoothly for us. The girl on reception was fantastic (sorry I didn't get her name) she got us rooms next to each other, organised taxis for us to get to hairdressers, stored the bouquets for us, kept luggage, she came to the room to tell us the photographer was here and that the wedding cars had arrived. She helped us set up a surprise for the bride and was so friendly, she was a credit to the Premier Inn group. She even managed to get us a late check-out so we could get ready without rushing. The hotel was quiet, the rooms spotless and the beds (especially the pillows) were very comfortable-everything you need for a short stay.

The service at the restaurant was very slow, we had to go to the bar twice to find out why our drinks had not arrived (waited half an hour). But the server apologised for the wait when she brought the drinks. As there had been a delay in getting our food and main courses we had to return to the room to get our nails done for the wedding, but the restaurant kindly packed our desserts up so we could eat them in the hotel room. They also supplied champagne glasses and ice buckets so that we could continue the celebration.

When we departed for the wedding the cleaning staff who had been in the corridor attending to rooms cleared all their trolleys away and waited patiently in reception until we had left. This was very kind and no doubt put them behind schedule, but this is another example of how great everyone at this hotel was. For a budget hotel, the team at this hotel really looked after us and we are very grateful.

Room Tip: even numbered rooms face the back of the hotel and were very quiet

We had a lovely stay at this Premier Inn. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was spotless and the bed extremely comfortable. The heating got the room warm pretty quickly but could also be adjusted for a cooler room overnight. One of the staff even volunteered to help us to the car with our luggage. All in all excellent.

Room Tip: Do check out the Table Table restaurant next door - they have specials each night as well as their s...

Excellent stay at the Premier Inn (Motherwell). Very friendly and helpful staff and was particular pleased with breakfast and food at the attached "Table Table" restaurant.

Would definitely use again if in the area.

A very friendly welcome, very clean room, had booked for family of four, reception shown us to the room but only made up for three, we were asked if we were going out and we replied yes, so an extra bed was made up on the floor while we were out. The room although very clean the windows were full of mould ( maintenance problem ) and also the bed was very uncomfortable, the matress was very hard and the pillows flat. The bathroom was very clean but the shower pole was full of rust and the shower head stained. I did not complain about the bed because i knew that they had new matresses and i thought it would be better the second night but it wasnt, i did inform the receptionist on departure about the bed but all she did was smile which i thought very rude.

We had breakfast both mornings and the food was fantastic and the in all I would say it is definately value Staff excellent, Just need to sort out few issues with room and would give five star
