“Very Pleasant Stay - Bargain Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

We stayed here on a Friday night in February, we got it for the bargain price of £59 for B&B, which, overall, was excellent value for money. We booked the non-refundable option.

Our room was nice and it had a huge bathroom, only gripe being there was no bath (room 103.)

The Receptionist was very nice and pleasant as was the bar staff.

We ordered breakfast to our room (only an extra £3 pp tray charge) and well worth it as they stop serving breakfast at 9.30, which is a bit early after a night out!

Overall, lovely location, lovely hotel and we would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: You have to get a front facing!

Just spent the last two nights in this hotel sharing a front facing twin room with a friend.
Bargain price at 55GBP per night (including breakfast).
Clean and tidy hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was great for me - full scottish the first morning and eggs benedict the second. Also choice of Continental (but why would anyone choose that over a full Scottish??).
The room price was discounted at time of booking due to us willing to take the "non refundable if cancelled" option, which is why I mentioned it being a bargain price.
Just a little niggle though, maybe something could be done with the pointless dark brown wooden piece of wood that has been placed onto the bedroom wall (bathroom wall). When I say pointless piece of wood, it is there for the reason of hiding a hole in the wall, but unfortunately, it fails to do this - so a piece of wood attached to the wall plus a hole below that piece of wood... come on guys ;-)
Terrific shower, terrific room service, terrific views, terrific heating, terrific TV reception (yes, I've read some previous comments!!) and overall a very nice room.
Overall a great stay, great customer service from all staff and a very well organised and run hotel - compliments to all who made our stay very enjoyable. nearly forgot.... we stayed in room 102.
Enjoy the Brisbane House Hotel

Room Tip: obviously ask for a sea view... and if making reservation, also ask for the non refundable rate (but...

We went here for a possibly wedding venue and ended up staying the night... we decided it wasnt for us but loved what they had done with the new part of the hotel with all the gorgeous chandeliers and glass fronts.... the rooms were ok and really big but we felt the room could do with a little TLC as the tiles were cracked and the papering coming away slightly..Although this may seen as minor things i feel when you are paying for things you expect the best.. Having said this the food we had for dinner was excellent and so was the service we recieved from the server.... breakfast in the morning was really good and the views from the room were stunning right out across to Millport. I think this venue could be stunning if they done the old part of the hotel up to look as good as the new part.

Thank you for your honest and frank review. It is only through such frankness we hope to improve our product.

Within the next few months the proprietor is planning an upgrade of bathrooms so we can erradicate the niggly cracked tiles. After a long battle the manufacturer of our corridor wall paper has admitted liability for substandard paper and this will be replaced soon.

stayed here for a two night break as a birthday treat, lovely hotel, rooms were very spacious, but the hotel was vey cold all over, I think it was to do with the way the wind was blowing. Food was great. We had no TV reception, but that did not really bother us. Could be quite an expensive hotel, I think it is where it is situated. We normally come to Largs with our caravan, but seeing it was a something special, we booked this hotel, would definately recommend it.

JDW1954. Thank you for you review. My sincere apologises for the lack of heat but am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We have been having problems with our television reception since the very bad winds with our aerial being blown over twice but we have now had television engineers to correct the problem and they have 99% guaranteed us perfect reception. Sadly very few things in live give a 100% guarantee

Myself and three friends booked to stay for one night supposed to be going to a tribute night but it was cancelled. We decided to go anyway and had a lovely evening with dinner in the hotel and then went out for a few drinks. Hotel is lovely, restaurant was very nice and staff friendly. Our only problem - it was a very windy night and the window in our room was not sealed properly, the wind howled through it all night. We tried to contact reception during the night to see if we could move but no answer. We complained in the morning and the manager took something off our bill. That was our only complaint, had a fab time.

Room Tip: Don't take room 203

We stayed at the Brisbane House hotel for one night on 21/1/12. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible and on arrival at the hotel, the very pleasant receptionist informed us that their aerial was hanging off the roof, meaning that all the TVs in the bedrooms weren't working, but as a way of apology they would give us a complimentary dinner that night in the restaurant, which we gladly accepted. The meal was lovely, the restaurant is very modern and all the staff were very helpful. The room itself was also very nice, not huge but big enough. The radiator didn't seem to be working, but an oil filled heater had been placed in the room and this was more than adequate, it heated the room up very quickly. There was plenty of storage space for clothes if staying for any length of time. The bathroom didn't have a bath, but had an excellent shower, and was spotlessly clean. Overall, I have to say that we had a very enjoyable stay at the Brisbane and would definitely return.

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear of the hotel, but it would be nice to have one with a seaview, so I would...

My good lady and myself had booked for three days at the Brisbane, whilst visiting family. From the get go, we were overjoyed with our stay there. Efficient and warm reception, detailing all that you have to know when you check into any hotel. And with the extra little titbits of 10% off food for residents pleased us no end to such an extent I booked a table there & then for a table of 14 which included my brothers, their wife's and their kids.
Our room, lit up with the afternoon sun streaming through the sea view window, was spotless, tastefully decorated, and the bed was a little piece of heaven, (truly one of the best nights sleep I've had).
Our evening meal was relaxed, as ever, the food was always secondary to seeing the family. However, our night was enjoyable even more so, to the fact that the menu had an excellent range of dishes & the price was hard to believe as well. Service was attentive yet not obtrusive. Our meal can only be described as wonderful, even though the restaurant was quite busy, our food was delivered speedily and tasted very well. For two courses at £10.95, and our discount on top, I couldn't be more pleased. We had all our evening meals at the hotel.
Breakfast had the right amount of choice of continental dishes, and the choice of cooked breakfasts was terrific, friendly staff and very courteous.
Need to visit family more often! if only to enjoy this joyous gem of a hotel
