My traveling companion and I came for the Largs Viking Festival, as well as general sightseeing. Guided by its excellent Tripadvisor reviews, we booked at St. Leonard's Guest House from Dallas (Texas, not Scotland), and we were certainly not disappointed. St. Leonard's is very conveniently located near the beach (site of the Viking Village), the train station, the Pencil Monument (site of the "Party at the Pencil" which re-enacted the Battle of Largs and then ended the Viking Festival with a spectacular fireworks display), Nardini's Cafe, St. Columba's Church, the ferry to Great Cumbrae, and on and on. There is even a Morrison's right across the street and around the corner, but hidden behind picturesque houses. The location really can't be bettered. In addition, St. Leonard's itself is a delight. It is charmingly traditional without being fussy, our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, and the breakfasts were wonderful. Mary (an excellent cook and great conversationalist) and John were wonderfully hospitable and helpful with suggestions about what to see and how to get around. Please notice my photos of the front of St. Leonard's, the breakfast room, and the view of the Firth of Clyde from Room 4, which is charmingly Victorian (but with an excellent bigscreen television!), where we stayed. Many thanks to John and Mary for their consideration and kindness. Whenever we are in Largs in the future, St. Leonard's will be "home".

I think we enjoyed your company more than you did ours as it was so nice to find out that you were both so very knowledgable about the area and Scotland itself after your many visits here.
We would love to welcome you back again in the near future and thank you for taking the time to review your experience.
