“Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

The pictures look so nice and inviting, we booked for 2 nights. The reception areas are not quite as per the pictures, but going upstairs (no lift) to the third floor we were sent down a rabbit warren of shabby passages to an awful room. We then paid more for a better room with a view of the sea - but (fool me twice) it was as awful. Such cheap sticks of furniture I have never seen in a hotel. The pillow stank so badly, I slept on a rolled up sweater. We cancelled our second night with a very friendly, and a little ashamed, receptionist. The room was so awful, we did not have our 'included' breakfast. We just moved on.

Room Tip: Any other hotel.

Recently visited the stotfield for a friends wedding, first impressions were good, staff were polite, lobby/reception looked nice. Rooms not so good, stale smell, mouldy shower screen, broken toilet seat, wallpaper coming off the walls, having said that the sheets and towels were clean and the bed was comfy enough for one night, not sure if I would have stayed any longer. The food was really good, the waiting staff were very attentive and the views from both the dining room and our room were stunning. Reasonably priced hotel if you are looking for good food and somewhere to put your head down.

+ Good Hotel. very good food and service. - decor a bit frayed
good large hotel in Lossiemouth
overlooks sea and golf course
staff were friendly
the bar food was excellent
breakfast self service contained everything you want for hot or cold food.

only drawback is the decor is a bit frayed and we stayed in room where the bathroom decoration looked distinctly amateurish.

overall would use again

DATED, SHABBY, SQUALID, UNSAFE, Stayed for two nights, we had 3 different rooms. first one smelt of tom cats and urine, this was from the rotten wood in the attic, there was a hole in the ceiling they just papered over. Second and third smelt of damp and drains, Windows sealed shut with nails witch led to a fire escape. EVERYTHING IN THIS HOTEL is from the 1970, BROKEN,LOOSE,ROTTEN. How this hotel has not been closed down by health and safety, or by the fire brigade is beyond me.

We booked in to the hotel and found it to be dated slightly.
But for what we were charged it didn't matter the beds n breakfast were what was needed after long walk. The drink in the hotel bar was very expensesive and we had our own drink in the room. Hotel about 1/2 mile walk to the amenities. But excellent view over the golf course n the Lossiemouth beach area. Lovely location
Well done all involved but the hotel is needing revamp just is all it needs.

Apart from the rain coming through the ceiling and the bathroom carpets smelling of urine and the radiators being jammed on 30 degrees it was ok! The staff very friendly and the food good, the location of this hotel is breathtaking, exellent for the golf.

The outside of this hotel looks very nice, so does the lobby. However, as soon as you get into your room, it doesn't look so fancy anymore. The rooms look like they could use a fix-up, the beds were not very comfortable (ok for 1 night) and the weak shower wasn't too nice. The wi-fi only works in the lobby. Breakfast at this place however was nice, buffet style and we got the place for around 60 GBP p/night, which is not too bad. Don't know if I would ever return to this hotel, maybe if they refurbish it a little.

A warm welcome awaits you at this family run hotel in Lossiemouth. A great relaxed family friendly atmosphere exists at this hotel and is frequented by many returning guests and locals alike. The breathtaking view from the front of hotel overlooks the Moray Firth and beyond to the Cromarty Firth and to the hills of Caithness. The hotel is directly opposite the ancient Moray Golf Club, and is ideally situated for exploring the Coastal, Castle or Whisky trail, as well as being well situated for visiting the cities of Inverness and Aberdeen and surrounding area. The Stotfield Hotel has recently undergone a refreshing transformation of many of its bedrooms and also the ground floor guest area. However, this historic hotel retains many of its original character and features from 1895, including the fantastic sweeping staircase and period revolving front door.
