We stayed here for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a wonderful atmosphere. The room we had was beautiful and furnished with some Arts & Crafts pieces. They had made the best use of space.

There were a few minor matters on arrival: 1. no milk for tea making and only one tea bag, 2. only towels for one person, 3. a light cover missing in the lobby. I have to say though that the first two were attended to immediately I put down the phone, but why not check before guest arrival?

We enjoyed the atmosphere in (and some contents of) the Malt Library, and found the dining room service excellent, particularly the girl who sculpted a special rose out of butter for us. The dinner menu was good although the third night's menue was a mixture of some items from the first two nights. The quality of the food was excellent, and a good wine list.

This is a country house hotel situated on a rise just outside Forres. The rooms are quiet, immaculately clean, spacious, and extremely well furnished with very comfortable beds. Each tastefully decorated room is different and follows a particular theme. It is, however, the staff that really make this hotel something special. They work very well together as a team and go out of their way to be as helpful and friendly as possible. The chap who runs the bar is incredibly knowledgeable about whiskey and it is well worth spending a long evening in his very entertaining company in the 'whiskey library'. The food is of a very high standard and is based upon local produce. The steaks, in particular, are superb.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, no matter what the season for both business and pleasure.

A typical Scotish country house hotel. Beautifully refurbished house (open fire place, tartan curtans etc) and very friendly staff. The restaurant serves excellent local food. We stayed here for two nights and we can highly recommend this boutique hotel.
The hotel is centrally located: perfect for exploring the Moray county: beautiful beaches, forests and castles (+ whisky trail: many distilleries).
