“Good for snack, coffee, meal or shopping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

This is always a good place to break up a drive to or from Inverness. O have always found the food in the cafe good value. It was quiet, probably thankfully so when I stopped this afternoon. Shop is a bit pricey but has a really good deli section.
Always clean and inviting with attentive staff

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Disappointing

As other reviews have said; the place is over-priced and caters for tourists. The food hall is ok but nothing special; the usual range of jams, condiments etc; many of which you can buy cheaper in other places.

When you look around at the various shopping parts you think; that looks nice but what would I do with it? Again; very over- priced. So all in all; been there, seen it, done it. Won’t go back.

Go to the pub across the road for food. Far better.

“Great lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Stopped off on way home from a short break away. Had a lovely lunch, freshly cooked and very tastynice coffee and good service. The food/furnishings shops are lovely. I would disagree with previous reviewers regarding price of food. We had a hot chicken breast sandwich...2 chicken fillets on a wheaten roll with salad, crisps and coleslaw for just over £6. We saw other plates being taken out...very large baked potatoes which looked really well filled and we commented that they looked great value for money.

“Brilliant Brunch at Brodie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

When I have had a good experience, I often read the 'poor' reviews before commenting and did so again this time. I think it is unfortunate that some comments are applied to the retail elements because there is a vast difference between opinions on the retail as opposed to the restaurant.

I am a frequent visitor to the restaurant and have NEVER had a bad experience. You would be hard-pressed to find sandwiches with more filling - and the filling is good! The coffee is hard to beat for flavour and strength. There is a choice of seating - the main restaurant or the conservatory. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. Regarding price, I would always prefer to pay a few pennies more to get quality and that is how I would describe Brodie's fare.

As for the retail side, the food hall is worth a visit because you can find less commonly available produce. The prices will not compete with Tesco's - but would one expect that they would? The clothing is something else! I don't know if articles are over-priced but I certainly would shrink from paying for some of the 'frocks' that are absolutely over-designed, cluttered and ridiculous. On the other hand, visiting the mens' shop during sale-time is well worth it. You can then pick up a designer shirt or slacks at the sort of price you might pay for mass-produced clothing elsewhere.

If you are in the area, walking or cycling in Culbin Forest are relaxing after the beach, try Brodie Countryfare for brunch, a coffee (especially recommended) or something more substantial.
