“Fine but bit lacking in atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Fine for a cuppa or bit of lunch while you're shopping but probably not a destination eating place. The tables and chairs are in the middle of the shop and it lacks a bit of atmosphere...good scones and soup....but nothing like as good as the Watercan tea room which was on the HIgh Street, very sorry to see it go!

“Excellent food and friendly, efficient staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

Visited the restaurant for the first time on Monday and was so impressed with the food that we returned on Wednesday.... The main lingering impression is that fresh ingredients are used to produce good quality food - nothing exotic, mind, but wholesome.
The entre was packed with flavour and the scones... well, words like "melt in the mouth", "fresh", "best tasting, ever" spring to mind.
The staff worked as a team and were very helpful in recommending dishes.
Well worth a visit - highly recommended.

“Consistently Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

I moved to the Highlands almost 6 years ago. I was introduced to Mackenzie and Cruickshank in my first few months here - how very lucky I was.
With adult company or with children (from babies to 5 year olds) everything is always excellent. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The food is wonderful.
What do they do best....... all their food is great - homemade soups, fabulous cakes, huge scones and wide range of traybakes, lovely hot dishes and tasty sandwiches with a lovely salad on the side. Childrens' meals are great too.

They now offer High Tea on a Thursday - I can't wait to try that too.

We take all or visitors and cannot recommend it highly enough.

“Great soup and homebakes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

We visit Mackenzie and Cruickshank tea room often and always have a lovely meal. The soup is delicious, thick and tasty and you also get a good bowl full. The scones are homemade and totally yummy. It can be busy at times but that is because it is popular. Choices of meal are excellent.
