“Good place for a decent lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

Stopped for lunch, we had to wait a short while for a table as it was clearly popular with locals and tourists alike. There was a decent choice and a gluten free diet was catered for no problems - even a choice of 2 cakes. Would stop here again as a good choice of home cooked food available. Highly recommended.

“Modern take on traditional cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

This was a very good cafe under the previous owners and the new owners have even improved on that. This is a really nice cafe which is excellent for lunches and snacks. I had the macaroni cheese which was very good indeed - nicely cheesy. My only comment would be that it could have done with a bit of bread or toast but that was because I wanted to mop up all the lovely sauce. I used a teaspoon instead. The cafe is quite compact but we had a child's buggy and got it in without it being too obtrusive. There are also good child changing facilities. The baking looked lovely and there is a very good range of local ice cream. It takes you back to your childhood with a choice of ice cream nougats and oysters as well as straightforward cones etc. More cafes should offer this traditional range of ice creams rather than the usual pre-packaged suspects. They also do take always. As someone said in another review, this is perfect if you are waiting on the Holy Isle ferry or just want to watch the world go by.

“Good Old Fashioned Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

We always make a point of coming here on our visits to Arran. This little tearoom has some of the best home baking on the island. Friendly table service and a great choice of food and drink.

“Great Knickerbocker Glory!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Hadn't been back here since the previous owners left - all I can say is that the standards have stayed up! We didn't manage to make it for a meal but bought cake to takeaway - delicious! - and went twice for Knickerbocker Glories and Banana Splits. Looking at what was on other people's plates, we hope to visit a few times next year!
