“Watch out, they may cancel on you!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

We phoned this hotel and had a 20 minute conversation with them regarding our requirements for a booking over new year with a small child. They were really friendly and helpful, assuring us they could fulfill our needs and took a deposit for the room. Having been delighted to have planned the final leg of our holiday to Arran we then booked our ferry. A month later we received an email cancelling our booking! On phoning them up they said that firstly they did not let out rooms for one night only during the new year period and secondly that the room they had reserved for us wouldn't fit a travel cot!!!!! - so why did they take our booking and money in the first place!?!!!!! They offered to "help" find somewhere else for us but one week before we were due to be there they said they could not find us anywhere, so we were left hotel-less in Arran with a toddler and no ferry service on New Year's Day to come home- cheers Lamlash Bay hotel!! We had to constantly phone the person we dealt with,Brian, to see how the accommodation hunt was going and he promised us that he was looking but one time when we phoned he had gone on holiday! With very few days left we phoned just about every place on the island and after great stress, hassle and expense, the Auchrannie came to our rescue and provided us somewhere to sleep rather than our car!! If you want to be assured of your holiday booking watch out booking at Lamlash Bay! ( by the way if you don't mind paying a bit more, the Auchrannie really is a fabulous hotel, especially for young kids and well worth the treat! The staff are fantastic and there's lots to do, even in the rain!).

My husband and I stayed here from 31st December to 2nd January for the second year in a row. Once again we had an amazing time. We stayed in room 8 which is on the top floor and had a window with views over the bay to the holy isle. The room was small but comfortable with a very comfy bed. On hogmany there was live music in the dining room just after dinner which made for a great atmosphere. We went through to the bar after the bells and continued the partying. It is the people in this hotel that really make it and once again we have to thank Ian, Liz and Brian for looking after us so well. The food was really good (although my husband was very disappointed that there were no steaks available!) Breakfasts were cooked to order and tasty. This was our second hogmany at this hotel and I'm quite sure it won't be our last!

Stayed here during the Santa sparkle celebrations, the hotel is clean, tidy and very friendly. We had a meal here on our first night and it was delicious, the bar area is nice and cosy, the locals made us feel very welcome, but the star attraction is the owners and the staff they are all brilliant We will definetly be back, keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Room 6 has the four poster bed

Lamlash Bay Hotel is a fabulously restful place to stay. The staff there are so laid back but they will go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. The food is excellent and would heartily recommend that if you are staying there on a bed and breakfast basis, you book a table for an evening meal too. It is not just pub fare, they have some innovative things on the menu that might surprise you but the flavours are put together well and the portions are good too. We had a huge corner room which was light and airy and looked out onto the bay. Fabulous for the passing birdlife and the boats coming and going. There is a public bar attached to the hotel but it was so lovely when we were there, we had pre-dinner drinks out on the terrace again overlooking the bay. Bliss!

Really dissappointed with this hotel especially as we took friends along. The bedrooms and apartments we booked were grotty. Full of dirt and dust very basic facitities. Bedding quilts etc horrible. Only good point was the food was just ok and the breakfast was nice. Would never return or recommend.

We were given a small suite with two twin bedded rooms, sitting room and bathroom at street level and had to go outside to access the hotel for breakfast. It took us a while to unravel the Venetian blind pulls so that we could shut out the street light outside and have some privacy in the bedroom. It felt like stepping back 40 years and was family beach holiday accommodation. Breakfast was good.
