Owner description: The quintessential Victorian ‘Highland’ estate, Brodick Castle, Garden & Country Park on the Isle of Arran is the perfect place for a family day out.Dramatically set against the backdrop of Goatfell mountain, the grand red sandstone Scottish baronial-style castle has stunning views over Brodick Bay to the Firth of Clyde. The grounds and surrounds are worthy of a visit alone – from the W A Nesfield-influenced landscaped gardens to the woodland trails, wildlife ponds and waterfalls, there’s plenty to explore outdoors in Britain’s only island country park. Brodick Castle is packed full of treasures too – it’s renowned for its impressive collections of period furniture, silverware, porcelain, paintings and sporting trophies.

“Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

Brodick Castle and gardens are a lovely place to visit. Walking in the gardens is lovely at this time of year - it is quiet and peaceful. The views over Brodick Bay and up to Goatfell are magnificent, especially if the mountain has a bit of snow on it as it has recently.

The castle has an interesting history and is "staffed" by knowledgeable volunteers.

“Lovely gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We just visited the gardens this time and even although it was nearly the end of October there was still a lot of colour. There is a fabulous Fuschia hedge in front of the castle and several Hydranea's with a varying colour from the bluest of blue to burgundy and pink. Some of the trees are hundreds of years old. A lovely place to stroll. Have visited the Castle itself before and is well worth a visit. As is the Tea Room. Would recommend a visit.

“A must for History Lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

I spent so long in the Castle that I did not have time to see the grounds. The staff in each room were engaging, very knowledgeable and obviously loved their Castle and the history. The china, silver, paintings and furniture left in the Castle by the family is stunning - the Castle is packed with interesting items in each room. The views from the Castle and too the Castel (from Brodick town) are stunning.

“Everyone was so helpful - thanks!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Lovely ladies in the shop on our entry, explained we wouldn't be able to take Mum in her wheelchair around the castle and why. So while Dad enjoyed his tour of the Castle, Mum and I had a coffee and the staff in the tearoom couldn't have been more friendly. Offered us a 'video tour', which we declined, but that was our choice. Pity the disabled can't enjoy viewing Brodick Castle, but perfectly understandable that protected buildings can't always accommodate wheelchairs and there was always the option of the video had we decided to take it.
