A great hotel to try if you are on the island of Arran. The food for dinner was wonderful with most of it being sourced locally. The golf course ( Shiskine,12 hole) is without doubt one of the hidden gems of Scottish golf. Even if you dont play the saintly game it is worth walking to the course to get the stunning views of the dramatic coastline. To wake up in the morning and watch the seals playing on the rocks is a great start to the day. The hotel breakfast is just as good but a bit more filling!

Room Tip: rooms facing the sea have amazing views

We have just come back from a weekend staying at the Kinloch Hotel. I booked it late & we wanted to go to Arran & had stuggled to find somewhere for the bank holiday weekend that could accomodate me, my husband & 7 year old. The Kinloch Hotel was very accomodating, giving us a family room, with my son going free (only having to pay £7.50 per night for his breakfast). The view from our room was fantastic, overlooking the sea and the seals basking on the rocks. The beds were very comfortable & we all slept very well. The hotel was busy but very well ran. We had a meal there on our first night & the food was very delicious. If we had wanted to eat earlier in the evening, there was a discount on the cost of the meals. This is a very good offer is you are staying with children & wish to eat earlier. The breakfast was very tasty, with plenty to chose from. We went for a swim in the pool which was dated but perfectly clean. The only thing which I didn't like was there are no hairdryers in the changing rooms and you have to go back to reception to sign out of the pool & then you can be seen with wet hair - a bit vain I know, but I'd rather not have to do this. The staff at the Kinloch are excellent and work very hard. They are all very friendly and very polite, nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly like to go back and stay at the Kinloch & would recommend it to friends and family.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view if possible, you'll see the seals basking on the rocks in the evening.

stayed here in Dec with howling winds and rain - location is remote wild seaside on beautiful Isle of Arran. Even with the winter weather, it was a wonderful experience - good food in the restaurant (which is good because that's the only place to eat - wonderful staff and room.

Far from the madding crowds, the Isle of Arran is surprisingly easy to reach (only 55 minutes on the ferry from Ayrshire). The east coast does get a little crowded though around Brodick and Lamlash. However that can hardly be said about the west coast, the village of Blackwaterfoot and the Kinloch Hotel in particular.
Firstly, the location is great, Seals basking on the rocks pay testament to the tranquility of the place. And there is no litter (how many places, in the UK at least, can you say that about nowadays?). The roads are quiet, the countryside almost deserted and this hotel is the perfect place to unwind.
Added to that, an excellent pool, comfortable rooms and fine food. No negatives at all

Having booked in advance it was fairly disconcerting to arrive and not be expected. Sent off to wait in the drawing room while they sorted it out. Thankfully there was a room, not sure what would have happened if there wasn't! Not helped by reception staff not telling the truth in response to our concerns when we asked and only finally admitting that they were not expecting us when it was absolutely obvious. No actual apology or explanation offered for what had happened.

The restaurant was closed in the evenings when we stayed as there was a large group of students in. Food was though available in he bar.

That said the views from the rooms facing the sea are stunning and the rest of the staff were very helpful and attentive.

The quantities of main courses are substantial, reasonable but not unique menus. Breakfast reasonable although no fresh fruit as is now commonly offered at this level.

There is free wifi ostensibly throughout the hotel although cover not good in our room and needed to go out into the corridor to get a connection. Better in most of the public areas although not operated as a single wifi network and will need to connect to a different router.

Appears to be very child friendly although none with us.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. Any feedback on the hotel, positive or negative is greatly valued and serves to help us improve our guest experience. I regret that the reception team did not have access to your booking on arrival and that due to computer updates taking place were unable to access your reservation immediately, but succeeded in limiting your check in delay to 15 minutes. Please be assured that your review has been discussed at our weekly staff meeting and that appropriate action has been taken with additional training given where required.

Our stay was highlighted by the view from our room out over Drumadoon Bay and the setting sun. We arrived in Manchester earlier in the day and had to drive and take the ferry to reach Blackwaterfoot. The staff greeted us with open arms. The hotel provides large towels, face cloths and lots of hot water.

The dining room, which also overlooks the bay, provides a very comfortable setting for dining. The food was excellent.

The staff is very guest focused.

Room Tip: Select room 34 overlooking the bay.
