“popular eating place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

My friends and i eat here quite regularly on thursday nights for a girly catch up with dinner n drinks, It is usually easy enough to get a table here or you can book in advance, You pick your meal from the menu which is changed periodicaly, The food is generaly of a good standard but if any complaints then your meal is sorted no problem, We often order the two meals for 9.99 which is marked on menu which we think is great value, the staff are good natured and we find the service to be fine, all in all a good place for a meal or just coffee or drinks.

“Handy to our B and B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Used this place on a couple of nights as it was a short walk from our B and B. It is a "Belhaven" pub, with a "wetherspoons" syle menu - cheap and cheerful best describes it! As is so often the case food was ordered at the bar, which was understaffed, resulting in a wait to place our order. However once the order was placed the food was delivered reasonably quickly. the food was plentiful, but the quality left a little to be desired, my partner had Lasagne, which was very salty, I had steak pie one night and their version of hunters chicken, both were well cooked, although the vegetables served with the dishes was only luke warm. This is a very popular place, especially on the Saturday, when there was a function taking place (a wedding), however this was taking place in a dedicated function room and therefore didn't impact too much on the bar. The place seems to we well used by the locals. Overall, the place is OK, but nothing special.
Be aware, there is no meet and greet, so you will be left to find your own table. a sign to this effect would be useful, as i waited at the bar for several minutes to see if we needed to be shown to a table.

“Good value.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I had lunch here today, and had a pleasant enough experience.

First impression : looks like a typical wetherspoons establishment. Large restaurant on different levels with a large bar.

Meet and greet: non existant, you find your own table, and then order your food and drink at the bar.

Menu: extensive pub grub, specialising in grills. Various deals on selected days, and a selection of roasts on a sunday.

Service: food arrives quickly. No mistakes were made.

Food: cheap, but tasty. We ordered the breaded garlic mushrooms, the hunters chicken and the halfrack of ribs. Everything was tasty enough, but the chips were of the school dinner variety and the coleslaw a cheap version of a supermarkets own brand, however the price of the food reflected the quality of the ingredients.

Value: very good, 3 courses and 3 drinks for £27.

Would we return? Yes.

“food could be much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

this is just your standard pub grub!! To many items on menu so nothing special. should really be paying attention to the market and this place could make a fortune by focusing on a smaller menu and serving really good food!! Nothing special all a bit bland menu never changes much and food average! Wont rush back can do better at home!!
