“Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

I stayed here on Saturday night with a friend prior to going to watch the last day of the Open.
Usual rate for a twin room is around £89,Open week rates were £189.00 a night which was fine, I expect the local businesses to make a few extra pounds when they can, so, please base this review on normal rate of £89.00 for a twin.
Hotel is in an idyllic location of a small village around 20 minutes from the coast.
Staff we're friendly and helpful, we were leaving early (before breakfast is served)for the golf but they said they would leave us cereal out and to help ourselves, when we got up there was a chef prepping for breakfast and he insisted we couldn't leave his restaurant without a decent breakfast so cooked us bacon and eggs, top man!
Meal in the restaurant was fantastic, great value and fantastic quality.
Rooms we're spotlessly clean and beds comfy.
Great place, would I stay again? Absolutley.

Booked this hotel at last minute for Saturday and Sunday break. The hotel was spotless, staff were very nice and the breakfast was fantastic. Would definately recommend it. Gifford is a good base to travel around.

On arrival and throught our stay the staff were very friendly and helpfull. The room was clean and comfortable with slight upgrade adjustment needed. A good glossy paint freshen up. The evening meal and breakfast was excellent. The full Scottish Breakfast was to die for. The black pudding and haggis was the best I have ever eaten. (I have eaten a lot over the years ) Stayed at Hotel for the Rugby International in Edinburgh which was approximately a 45 mins drive away. I would recommend this Hotel to friends, family and Trip advisor viewers.

For those who have not been, and this was my first stay in Gifford, it is a delightful old fashioned village with a square in the centre and a dominating building which looks a church but on initial inspection - did not stay out too long in the cold - was probably an old school.
I was on business, but this would undoubtedly be an ideal location for walking, fishing or just taking in the Scottish countryside.
The hotel, being off season, seemed to be run by one young lady who was there to book me in at night, attend to dinner, serve behind bar and sort out breakfast in morning. My room was fine, though a little cold, and the lino on the bathroom floor jolted me awake in the morning.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

We booked a table for 11 here for dinner, 7 adults and 4 kids, and asked if we could use the private dining room, which Kenny was more than happy to accommodate. This was for a family birthday dinner. The set up is fantastic, a large lounge area with an open fire leads through to a large rectangular table in a separate room, which was perfect for socialising. We were able to visit prior to dinner and decorate the table, put some photos up and surprise the birthday boy. The kids loved it as well as they were all given colouring in sheets, which kept them amused between courses.
As for the food, I haven’t been out with 10 others in recent years, who all commented so positively on the quality of the starters and main courses, everybody thoroughly enjoyed it. Ross and Paula served us well all evening and kept the drinks flowing from the bar whenever required. They were also brilliant with the kids. The food is all freshly prepared and delivered from named local suppliers, which is great. The quality, quantity and presentation of the food was superb, so top marks to the chefs. This was one of the best meals out we have had for quite some time.
We will definitely ask to use this room at the Tweeddale again for family functions and intend to eat out here whenever we can in future.
