“Very good for a special occasion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012 via mobile

Excellent service, excellent food, with some very nice bread and olives to start with, and lovely amuse Boucher in between the courses. Our waiter was very good and knowledgeable. Excellent real ale in the bar beforehand, and the Baldrick Shiraz was first class. One star lost for a couple of negative points, though. My main was sirloin, priced at £29.50 on the menu. However when the bill came it was charged at five pounds more which was the price for fillet, and the change had not been made when the menu had been changed. A bit sloppy. Also, Malcolm Duck came to introduce himself and ask if we were happy which was good of him, but then he actually started discussing politics, which is a little tactless.

i am glad you enjoyed the food, I am sorry the menu was incorrect. Very unusual for me to initiate a conversation about politics, I am fairly A political. i just wish politicians would get on with running the country and not spend so much on trying getting re-elected. However I never have or ever will do political correctness; long live freedom of speech and laughter.

“Ducks 1, Gannets 0”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Hunting for a spot of lunch during our holiday week, we passed Duck's at Aberlady one fine Monday. We'd been to Duck's in Edinburgh years ago and remembered it fondly, so stopped by with hope in our hearts and taste buds at the ready. What a decision!

From the specials board, the curried corn and mushroom soup to start and the wild salmon to follow were just fabulous. A large bowl of seafood chowder from the lunch menu was quite literally a meal in itself - delicious and nourishing. Generous portions, beautifully cooked and presented. The temptation to go back and eat our way through the menu is likely to put our diets out of kilter.

And they played Nina Simone.

A sensational find: highly recommended.

“A real quacker !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Ducks in Aberlady has fast become one of our favourite places to eat , whether we are going for a special occasion in the evening for a meal or during the day for lunch or afternoon tea it has been consistently great food and service. The evening menu is extensive and they can cook a steak any way you like it without incinerating it. The owner is always around and keeps things to his high standards. There are several areas you can dine in from the formal restaurant to the bistro to comfy sofas , they even have tables outside for the 3 days of sunshine we have had. There is also a good wine menu and proseco by the glass. The prices are very reasonable I would recommend Ducks for any occasion hope you like it as much as we do.

“GREAT FOOD & WINE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

We had a lovely meal - not a vast menue but all beautifully cooked. The Staff were extreemly pleasant, polite and helpful. It was lovely to have a extensive choice of wines from around the world which were well aged.
Some lovely touches.

A thoroughly delightful experience.
