“BACK AGAIN!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

We have not been here for some years as the Old Aberlady Inn has had a varied career! It is now in the hands of Paul Kinnoch while his Haddington bistro is restored following flood damage and that is very good news for Aberlady. The building has always been warm and welcoming and that has not changed. We went soon after Paul took over and had a very good meal reminscient of the best he provided in the Waterloo Bistro and from this week his new menu will be even better. That is not surprising as he has brought his chef with him and he can cook!

“Only average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

This was our second visit in a few months and it was perhaps not so good as the first time. Being a Friday evening it was quite busy and the waiting staff were pleasant and efficient. The food is perhaps just average 'pub-grub' served without much imagination. Fish was so-so and prices average but desserts were certainly overpriced (£4.50 for scoops of ice-cream is a rip-off!). Our other comment was that our bottle of wine was just 'plonked' on the table - whilst it might have been too much to be asked to taste it, they could at least have opened it!

Great service, beautiful food and lively atmosphere! Best pub gub I've eaten in a while!
Watch out for their unbeatable meal deal.

“Good Pub Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

This was the first time we had eaten here and everything was pretty good. Tasty starters, good main courses, with the possible exception of the fish in breadcrumbs, which could have been better cooked as it was very dry. The only criticism is that the staff appear to be a bit disorganised and unsure of what they are doing, with the exception of the young lady who took our order very efficiently. Will probably go back as we would regard this as one of the better places we have eaten in East Lothian.

“It just gets better!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

As a pre bike trip to France (serious problem with getting back to my youth at the moment!) and based on the principle that I may not return, myself and my much better half visited here again last night. The place is truly a little gem! Sweet potato and coconut soup, chorizo stew and apple crumble with custard all served up with a house rose. It all went down exceptionally well; this followed by Englands win over the Ukraine, made for a very good night and has moved this restaurant up the list as one of our favourite local establishments. They often have deals but this does not mean cheap fare - quite the opposite! The staff are friendly, efficient and the chef deserves raise for his skill. Try it!
