“A real find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The Old Inn is a lovely old coaching inn with period features. It is owner-managed and it shows. The welcome is always friendly and the suites are well worth paying extra for. There is a great garden house with an open fire for smokers.

Dear glitteringprize, thank youy for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. We are delighted to see that you have become accustomed to our warm welcom and friendly staff. As you correctly point out, our Pavilion in the garden is a real feature and is a real favourite for smokers and non-smokers especially given our 'unique' weather in Northern Ireland! Not unusual for us to have a roaring log fire on in June. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards, the team at The Old Inn.

My husband and I have stayed in the Old Inn on many occasions - we just love the place - everything is perfect - my husband particularly loves the open fire in the gardens and of course the food is amazing - the rooms are fantastic and we always seem to get a different room when we stay which is great! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they always make you feel very welcome. We think the special deals are great value and try to avail of them when we can.

Warm atmosphere, great service on a cool day in March!
We were so pleased we had chosen this venue for our smallish wedding party, around 40 guests.
The open log fire in the reception area creates a lovely atmosphere as soon as you enter this 'old inn'. My father & I were greeted by Gareth, & what a wonderful calming person he is! My dad is in his 80's & his flower buttonhole fell out. Gareth immediately on the ball to help.
Gareth then waited with us ,smiling away, giving me confidence to walk up the aisle! We had chosen to get married on the premises, in the gallery, yet another lovely log fire at the top of this gorgeous room.
The meal was superb, yet another point, this turned out to be Mother's day. When we booked we had no idea, & when we did discover, were slightly concerned that they would not have the time to give us their full attention. How wrong we were!
Just to mention laura, the wedding co-ordinator, who is a delight & has the patience of a saint!
Also Jane, who kept the craic going with my family in the residence bar when all else had long retired! She is a gem.
Thank you 'old inn' for a truly memorable wedding day, & for the lovely gallery as a great backdrop for wedding photos.

Dear trdgha, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor about your recent wedding reception. Thank you for pointing out the individual memebers of staff, in such a customer facing business it is pleasing to see so many positive remarks. Your comments about Mothers day are noted and we believe confirms our own belief that a one wedding a day policy is the only way to guarantee that every bride and groom receives our undivided attention. We'll maybe see you for your your wedding anniversary and we look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards, the team at The Old Inn.

While the Inn is nice, quaint and service was reasonably good, and the food good, we were very disappointed with the Afternoon Tea we had in May as there was no choice of Teas. There is a choice advertised on the website but they only had one type of "tea" and they didn't even know what type that was!
Thought it might have just been an off day but friends were there for fathers day and they still didn't have a choice of teas!.

Makes you wonder!

I used the Old Inn at Crawfordsburn as my home base for sightseeing in Belfast in November for two nights, and was amazed by how easy and quick the short trip from the city center to my cozy home for the evening was. While being very affordable, the charming, individually named rooms were very clean and really nice- all decorated differently with unique, cool touches like my bay window and ceiling moulding. The restaurant and pub were lovely with a cold pint and a nice wine menu, and a satisfying supper served by friendly staff. A hearty cooked breakfast is done up in the morning in the pretty dining room. Definitely the place I would be returning to!

Very friendly.Lovely atmosphere and character. Had booked for a special occasion in our life and as we only booked standard room were a bit disappointed in how small it was ., really small.,probably should have only been a single bed to give more room to move without banging ankles on bed legs. The food is excellent, breakfast, bar menu and dinner menu first class.Service and staff helpful and friendly. Parking limited and not easy to get a space.Advice, check out size of room offered in week.end or midweek offers. This one was 'Mistletoe' Aptly named as one could 'miss a toe'!!

Room Tip: Ask into size of room on the offer. Some our very small and awkward to negotiate for two people.

Dear kenneth119, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. Thank you also for your kind comments on the quality of food and the professionalism of the team. We were disappointed to see that you did not enjoy the characterful Mistletoe room. We have some wonderful deals at the moment both on Facebook, if you are registered as a friend, or simply at www.theoldinn.com. Maybe next time you would consider upgrading to a superior room or one of our sumptuous junior suites. We look forward to seeing you then. Kind regards, the team at The Old Inn.
