“Wonderful place to warm up”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

We came to the Red Door on the recommendation of the B&B owner where we stayed nearby. I can see why she loves it! We stumbled in cold, wet and miserable after getting caught in the rain and wind on the Carrick-a-Rede bridge. Our kids were tired and grumpy but they were made to feel welcome. First we chose a table near the lovely peat-burning stove, but kids being kids, they didn't appreciate it and we moved to a table near the pastry case. We switched tables yet again a few minutes later, but the proprietors never blinked, as if this was the most normal behavior. The atmosphere is so homey, we spent at least 2.5 hrs here sheltering from the weather. The lunches were very nice, with a few options for children including a platter of ham sandwich, grapes, cookies, crisps, and marshmallows. The mint chocolate cheese cake and orange cake were amazing. Coffee was good too! Sunday paper was complimentary. But what really makes this place is the family who own and staff it, they have created a very pleasant haven.

“Visitors Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

As we spend the summer holidays in Ballycastle, we love to bring visitors out to sample the local cafes and restaurants. We were delighted to discover The Red Door over the summer and spent many afternoons enjoying the delicious food on offer there. As well as missing the beautiful North Coast scenery, we are already missing the Red Door and are looking forward to going back there next summer. We highly recommend it.

“little hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

just came back from a lovely tea at the red door with my work which was a group of 11 people, the people were so friendly from when came in to we left, they kept asking if we needed anything there was plenty on the table to eat, everything is homemade by themselves, 2 lovely sisters and there mother, and not forgetting the partner of one of the sisters,,the soup was so tasty and the sandwiches we were spoilt for choice, and as much tea and coffee you can drink, then we had choice of homemade, apple pie, rhubarb lattice and pavlova which to look at the size you would never finish, it as so light very easy ate!, they also have a gift shop beside the tea room, also outdoor seating area which would be ideal in the summer months, we were so delighted with it will be booking our christmas dinner in it, looking forward to going there again! thanks again will be seeing you soon

“Great accidental find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Just happened to stumble on this lovely little tea room situated between the Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-Reed rope bridge. Very good We tried several of the desserts - all very good. The apple pie was to die for. We tried the chili - being from Texas it wasn't quite spicy enough but very tasty.
