“excellent plush hotel with genuine history attached (literally!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

fantastic picturesque location, about 50 yards from the shoreline. room very well appointed, with views of the mountains and sea. breakfast really tasty plentiful. evening meal obviously cooked by a man or woman who knows their business!!! the hotel is a great base for exploring the beautiful north antrim coastline or belfast about 22 miles south. the old castle part of the tower dates from the time of charles 1 in 1625. we heard and saw plenty of americans and australians who seemed very charmed by the place.

Room Tip: some rooms at the side facing north can see the sea AND the mountains.

We had our wedding here in August and I must say it was brilliant the dinner was beautiful the scenery was amazing the bar staff were brilliant I couldn't praise the place anymore. I've had friends and family telling me it was the best wedding ever we really did have the run of the hotel that day and staff went out of their way to accommodate..only negative was that the day went through too quickly :( we will be back on our anniversary and hopefully before.

Ballygally Castle is a unique hotel. Most of it is of a more modern variety attached to the remains of the castle. The staff was very friendly and took care of our luggage, we didn't have to lift a thing. The food was very good and there's a beautiful garden that's worth taking the time to walk through. The view of the coast is amazing and if the sky is clear you can see Scotland. Definitely recommend staying here.

A wonderful hotel, really good for seeing the Antrim coast.
Fabulous room, very spacious with all the TV channels and probably the most comfortable bed ever! The bed was especially welcome after the amazing Sunday buffet lunch.... The chocolate fountain was a popular attraction.. Oh and piri piri chicken is a must in the restaurant, with a lovely glass of 'Graham Beck' red wine..
A real treat and the Staff are great.... a special thank you to Paul and all the staff for absolutely spoiling us....

Unique hotel-old castle combined with new wing.
I've stayed a number of times mid-week-very cheap deals to be had in winter. Dinner was very nice, and the dining room has a lovely atmosphere. Waiting staff seemed a bit new to the profession, so a tiny bit haphazard, but this didn't detract at all from the charm and the enjoyment of the meal. On one stay I had a first floor room facing the sea (101 possibly?)- it is immediately adjacent the main road, and there was a floodlight shining up at the window, and the room was slightly strangely, asymmetrically shaped, which, altogether, sounds distinctly unpleasant, but it was actually really enjoyable. The bed was massive, loads of pillows, and really comfortable. I could hear road noise outside, but traffic was very light, and was mainly drowned by the lovely sound of waves crashing against the beach across the road- a very pleasant noise to wake up to. The bathroom was nicely quirky, and fully functional, while being almost as big as the room!
The newer rooms, while very comfortable and large, have significantly less character than the rooms in the front of the hotel.
Go in autumn or winter- very cheap and, as long as not too wet, a great time of the year to experience the Antrim coast.

Room Tip: Older part of hotel, quirky but a much more unique experience

Stayed here for one night on a dinner, bed and breakfast special which was reasonably priced. although we had a few issues with the room and check in, these have since been acknowledged and rectified and I am happy with the outcome. dinner was
lovely and the restaurant staff were very attentive. breakfast is excellent, best iv had anywhere. fresh local produce and more than enough to choose from. Lovely surroundings and beautiful location.

I stayed in the Glen Cloy room and the cleanliness was excellent. The view from the room is superb and weather permitting you can see the Scottish mainland. The garden offers a wonderful place to walk and relax with the sound of the river running out into the sea.
The food is superb with an excellent selection of local produce and the breakfast selection puts many other hotels to shame, certainly sets you up for a days business or sight seeing.
The staff were extremely couteous and helpfull at all times.
