“Watch out for the hotel car park brick sill”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2011

Nice outdoor pool ( although showers did not work). Tennis court a bit rough - lots of stones made bounce unpredictable. Spa adequate - Jacuzzi, pool and squash courts used. Expensive tea but lovely location outside in gardens.
Rooms ok if a bit small.
Main problem was nasty variable height bricks in sill in exit to car park which did £1500 damage to my car. Manager said it was there to stop cars using that car park exit but there were no warning signs either side. I got no apology either.

How amazing to step though an entrance and be transported back to the 1980s.
Small but OK family suite, clean and serviced every day. Main restaurant shut in the evenings so was asked to use the Spa restaurant. Food was well proportioned, execellently cooked and good value but was bland and presented in a 1980s style.
Outside gardens are visually appealling and good for sunbathing but oiutside pool was tired. Most staff were indifferent to the professionalism their work requires although there were one or two notable exceptions. It would appear that the staff have to double up on their tasks. Needs to be stripped back and refurbished with a new management team employed.
Four nights is plenty at this hotel.

Good hotel, great health club, food ok, staff friendly but rooms could do with updating (which they seem to be starting). I've been staying there for a number of years now and it's a nice hotel with good food but needs dragging out of the 80s. Internet access in the rooms is poor.

Our room wasn't bad, excellent shower, tho some others in our group had different experiences. The hotel is a bit old fashioned without 24 hr reception, for example you need to remember to request a front door key if you are going to return after 11pm. The grounds are very nice, although the spa has some issues such as a very smelly steam room. The common areas of the hotel are clean but rather dated. The hotel has next to no service on most cell networks (not their fault obviously) and their free wifi service is unusably slow, most of the time I couldn't even get an IP address. This is fine if you want to get away from it all, but if you need to keep in touch with family or office, or you're organising an event, it's next to impossible. For this reason I wouldn't stay again.

Just outside Wareham amongst beautiful surroundings you'll find the Springfield Country Hotel.

The hotel is pleasant, clean, and well kept. The buffet breakfast was delicious. The room was decent enough, though quite small for the price paid (we were placed on the top floor of the building).

If you come to this hotel looking for a bed & breakfast service, you will probably have a great time. However, when you're trying to organise an event here, the management and staff at the hotel will make your life very difficult.

- They told us that we could reserve X number of rooms, then sold them to other people

- This meant that a lot of our party couldn't get the rooms we needed, but LateRooms.com were still selling rooms for those dates

- They then told us that they had oversold the rooms that we had already bought, and swapped them for some rooms at another hotel... and charged us MORE for the privilege!

- They promised us a 20 megabit internet connection. It turned out that the connection was so slow (from anywhere in the hotel) it took minutes to even load a website, let alone accomplish the things we needed to do.

- While we were packing up expensive and extremely heavy equipment from the outdoor area, their outside lighting went out, and they couldn't turn it back on because "it's on a timer" - no warning was given about this

- The hotel staff ate the cake and sweets that we had put out for our guests

- The bartender didn't know what a "bloody mary" was

Thankfully, all of our guests still had a fantastic time despite everything the hotel did to try to impede this.

This hotel is just off the Swanage by-pass and set in lovely gardens. The staff were all welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food for dinner and breakfast was very good and with satisfying portions. Lovely gardens, heated out door pool and excellent spa with god sized indoor pool etc. Bedroom was spacious, well equipped and. had a separate shower and bath en-suite. In the executive room that we opted for it had with a huge balcony overlooking the gardens. Great for sunbathing and evening pre-dinner drinks. The ONLY reason it doesn't get 5 stars is 1). the double bed was only 6' long [feet over the end if you're 5'9" and taller!] and 2). the leather suites all over the big lounge area are a throw back from the '80s when they were probably purchased!!

Room Tip: Executive room with balcony is definitely worth the extra cost

Nice enough building, leisure stuff is good quality and grounds are pleasant. This is not a Spa hotel, more a sprawling travel lodge with a gym and pool.

This is a hotel that prioritises functions over all other guests, it was noisy into the early hours and upon complaining I was told that nothing would be done and that I should leave. They clearly don’t give a hoot about individual guests.

The room was hugely overpriced, this is a £60 - £80 a room night place, not the £200+ we were charged.

Dinner was OK, nothing special and you pay a lot for it. Breakfast was a bit dull.

They, make you pay for the room in full in advance, first time I have ever come across that. Make of it what you will. Won't be happening again.
