“Astounding Ambience, Superb Service, Fabulous Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012 via mobile

The Priory is the perfect setting for a special occasion. The service is impeccable and you are made to feel very special. You are met at the entrance and shown through to the lounge where you are given your menu, pre-dinner drinks orders are taken and you are served canapés. Our evening meal order is taken in the lounge and you are escorted into the restaurant when your starter is ready to be served so there is no waiting around. There is freshly baked bread ready for you when you arrive at the table with perfectly softened butter. The food is exquisite and I always manage to find room for dessert! It's a particular highlight to have your after dinner coffee served back up in the lounge with the petit-fours they serve.

The Priory is certainly not a cheap restaurant but you pay for the quality of the food and the whole experience created by the atmospheric surroundings of the hotel and the attentive staff.

“Amazing restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

I went to dinner with my partner for Valentines night. It is a tryuly superb venue with a menu and cuisine to match. Sumptuous and outstanding service and quality. An amazing dining experience and it lived up to all expectations as it was recommended by several customers of mine. Not a cheap meal out but for that extra special dinner or just a treat. Its very well worth the extra effort to travel to and expense. The staff are all lovely, professional and extremely polite with excellent good customer service. We also visit frequently for afternoon tea on a lovely sunny day and sit by the river. Very beautiful for a lovely touch of old english hospitality in a beautiful garden. I question why all other hotels can not offer the same hospitality as you get from the Priory. Thank you all of those who recommended it to us.

“Great meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

We were staying at the Priory Hotel and ate in the restaurant ... just one night. From start to finish the staff, food and ambience were impeccable.

The restaurant is situated in the Abbotts Cellar but the evening begins with drinks in the bar or sitting room when you will be presented with canapes, your food choices taken and your wine choices also taken but there is an automatic offer of water on the table, either spring or just an 'ordinary' water jug.

When table is ready for you, you are escorted carefully down the steps and into a lamplit environment, very relaxing. Three courses of excellent food were served, then coffee and petit fours. The table linen was immaculate too, and care was taken at every turn to give a relaxing and happy evening.

Cost: If not staying at hotel around £44.50 per head, plus wine etc. if taken.

This venue is an amazing one for Sunday lunch too. The hotel has beautiful gardens so, on a fine day, a good lunch and afternoon stroll can be enjoyed. Very impressed with the restaurant staff.

“A perfect setting for any occasion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

A beautiful old building in a beautiful location, with food to match. The staff are friendly and attentive when you need them and melt into the background when you don't.

Paying by card is amusing as they have to hold the handset up the chimney to get a signal!

“Nice allround”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

Great food, great setting, professional staff. The main restaurant used is downstairs with no views at all of the attractive garden and the river Frome but it is nevertheless attractive with proper tableware etc..Sunday lunch is around £30.
