“Beautiful surrounding, excellent menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Just a little rushed through courses by over eager serving staff, but generally a lovely meal. Need to book as popular and residents tend to eat in.

“Surprisingly good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

We had no high expectations for this restaurant expecting up market pub grub or standard small hotel fare and what a pleasant surprise we had. The food was excellent the wine choice good and well priced and the service was excellent
Only one negative comment the acoustics in the restaurant allow you to hear all others conversations and I expect all other diners were able to hear ours. Tables are large and seats comfortable so to overcome the acoustics I would suggest more drapes on walls and some music but not too intrusive.

“Great food and a lovely atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I stayed at the hotel with my wife and two children as part of a celebration of my 50th birthday. It was a lovely evening with great food and really pleasant staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Finished off with coffee in the lounge and a surprise decorated plate wishing me a Happy Birthday.

I would definitely recommend it!

“Good service but let down by average food at above average prices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We booked here for a birthday treat whilst staying in nearby Kingston. The surroundings were lovely and service was very good - attentive but discreet. We really enjoyed our drinks in the lovely lounge while we looked at the menu. It has to be said that the menu was neither extensive nor unusual.

The restaurant lacked atmosphere and the chairs were not very comfortable - as someone who is vertically challenged I spent all night stopping myself slipping forward! Once again the service was impeccable. The food, however, was not and was a mix of 'that was lovely' and 'that was just about average'.For example, the starters were beautiful and set the standard for the rest of the meal but he chicken was dry with not enough sauce and the potatoes and veg were barely warm. We may have chosen poorly for pudding but the rice was very average and the souffle was more like scrambled eggs and overpowered by the (very good) ginger ice cream.

Yes we could have sent food back but this was a celebratory meal and neither of us wanted to admit that anything was wrong so put up with it and paid the bill (complete with tip for the excellent service) at the end of the night.

Would not return and would not recommend

“Always enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Brilliant restaurant for initmate, romantic dinning, but then also perfect for business clients and special occassions. We have dined there for all the above and have alsways found the food good, the staff excellent and the atmosphere enchanting. Will hopefully be back soon
