We visited the Greyhound on a recent Sunday after treating our 3 year old son to a ride on the Swanage Railway and decided to pop in for a "quick light lunch" as we only had a limited time in Corfe before catching the return train. We arrived after 1pm and the pub was not that busy, hardly any tables taken in the garden and spaces in the main pub too. We decided on Pea and Ham hock soup for me, chicken liver and chorizo starter for my husband and pasta with veg and tomato sauce, cheese and garlic bread for our young son, and a portion of chips to share with 2 small sparkling waters and a pint of beer. My husband duly went to the bar and ordered but returned saying he was charged £40! On checking the menu we discovered we were overcharged by about £10 which was duly refunded due to having been charged for someone elses drinks too. 40 minutes later we were still waiting so went to enquire how long it would be, eventually about an hour after ordering the meals arrived minus the garlic bread, no cheese, and not even a hint of ham in the pea soup ( was advised on querying that it was blended in.....hmmm very well blended in and disguised then). We asked to see the manager as we were not happy at all and were approached by a friendly young staff member aksing if we wished to speak to him whilst we were eating...we said we would talk to him after the meal....eventually we were advised by the head waitress that he was unavailable and offered free coffee and desserts which we declined as we would have been left with no time to look around the village. She said she would speak to the manager again...never to reappear...we decided to leave in the end and will not be returning in a hurry! We only ordered starters and a childrens meal, I imagine it would of taken all afternoon had we ordered a full meal! TIP - Go elsewhere if you want to be served in a timely manner and what you ordered, and watch what you are charged for!!! Also £3.50 for 8 chips is a little expensive!!!
