“Good beer, good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2015

Twice a year we travel from our home in Cornwall to Brackesham Bay to attend the Tony Jacobs Jazz and Swing weekends at Richardson's South Downs. This pub has become our regular lunch stop. After driving 120 miles it provides a perfect place to unwind and sample their excellent and well priced food, and jot wish I wasn't driving so I could drink my fill of their lovely beer. Just wish they had rooms to rent!

“Not the best experience but it could be a one-off”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2015

Booked a table 5 days in advance and it was clear when we arrived that perhaps the booking was not in the system. We were given a table in the "overflow" room which is basically the games room and totally lacked atmosphere. The food was fine as was the beer but we could not helping feeling let down and it spoiled a good evening.

“Good food,reasonably priced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2015

We had Sunday lunch there recently with some friends. Following a bracing walk along the harbour walls in nearby Lyme Regis, we found a welcoming fire burning in The George; just what we needed, even though the fire was a little too close to the table. The food was well presented and served in good time. It was reasonably priced too, ca. £25 per head including drinks and that was a three course lunch. Portions were ample but not too big, Best bit of all were the friendly staff who kept the pub open just for us to continue chatting. I happily recommend this to anyone staying in the south Dorset area.
