The Bull offers an old coach house experience with a modern twist- think of old school with a modern contemporary facelift - it's been Upcylced! The hotel lends memories of a time gone by without appearing old fashioned and the refurbishment has a decorative charm that would not look out of place in a glossy style magazine. The restaurant was fine but he real find was the second bar hidden away at the back of the ballroom on the first floor. Shabby chic without being pretentious!

This hotel has a lot of excellent reviews which I would regard with a great deal of suspition...and a very large pinch of salt. This was not our experience, we were totally underwhelmed and dissapointed. We arrived late afternoon and stood about in reception for several minutes before someone wandered over to deal with us, even though they had seen us come in. The room at £175 was tired and shoddy, with dusty floors and some peeling wallpaper and there were stains on the carpet and bed. The shower wouldn't wash the soap off your back and the bathroom was in need of an upgrade, but the worst problem was the noise from the street which was unbearable...busy traffic during the day and rampant nightlife at night. The room was hot but if you opened the windows you had no chance of sleeping, so we kept them shut, but were still disturbed several times in the night by shouting and singing.
Having spoken to a few other guests at breakfast, it seems there is also a lot of noise coming from the back of the hotel in their courtyard and pizza outlet, so all round ther were some pretty tired lookig customers.
The bacon at breakfast was over cooked and dissapointing generally, but the restaurant was no better at night, with a rather sparse menu and extremely bland flavours. We did spot some food on the floor also which we pointed out to the waiter who just shrugged.
This establishment is more like a bed & beakfast than a hotel....there is no lounge area where you can read the papers and has nothing of the prper hotel comforts that you would expect.
we won't be back.

My husband and I took the opportunity to take a rare night away from the kids and this hotel came highly recommended by my Father. I am pleased to say our short stay did not disappoint. The hotel is beautiful, with a huge amount of character and with very personal attention to detail by the owners.
We stayed in the room "Nandi" which was spacious and comfortable with a roll top bath in the corner of our bedroom and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! Our every need was satisfied with fluffy white towels and soft bathrobes provided. The staff were friendly and could not do enough to help - we felt truly welcome and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Our room overlooked the lovely old courtyard and we did not hear any noise from other guests. It was peaceful and relaxing.

At breakfast we were again spolit for choice, with an amazing buffet of freshly baked bread, croissants, locally sourced cereals and preserves all laid out in a lovely light open room. My husband chose to order a full English breakfast and I opted for porridge with fresh berries, all of which arrived in a timely fashion and was cooked to perfection. We were particularly impressed with the sausages!

This hotel now comes highly recommended by my husband and I and we shall be returning very soon!

Room Tip: Nandi (110) was wonderful but we did walk past the open door of room 104 which over looks the high s...

Having stayed in the Bridport area for many years and after enjoying a very pleasurable meal in the restaurant last year we decided we would give the hotel a try.
The hotel is quite small, but easy to find with free car parking located at the back.

We reserved "stars" one of the doubles located at the front of the hotel overlooking the high street, which was of good size and cleanliness and a nice range of room amenities, including Neal's yard toiletries, dressing gowns, free bottled water and assorted teas/coffee making facilities with big coffee mugs. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality pillows.
Although located at the front of the hotel the room has secondary glazing so there is no noise from outside, however as hotel does not have air conditioning I would not stay here in the summer as it would be too noisy to sleep with the window open.

Dinner was very good indeed, and the salted peanut parfait dessert - outstanding

The hotel has a small courtyard area which is nice to sit outside weather permitting, a games room with wii console and table football (for adults and children alike) and 2 bars, you can also walk the owners 2 dogs if you feel so inclined.

The Venner cocktail bar is cosy and elegant, almost like a gentlemans club bar but a great place to relax with some good cocktails - the breakfast martini is worth a try.

Breakfast is included, and an impressive spread for such a small hotel. There is a continental buffet, organic yoghurt, Dorset cereals, fresh and dried fruit, nuts, juices, homemade jams, pastries and bread and also a full range of hot dishes.

We were extremely impressed with the hotel, it has a laid back feel and the staff are all very good and friendly, and there are some nice little touches which make all the difference to your stay.
We intend to return very soon.

Repeat business is a measure of a hotel's quality, and, having stayed at The Bull a few years ago,we wanted to stay here again for 2 nights on our way to Devon and Cornwall.

The hotel is lovely, better than ever. We had asked for a room at the front, overlooking the street, and with the double-glazed window we heard no street noise at all. A fan is thoughfully provided, along with other amenity you could wish for. Linens are sumptuous, and mention must be made of the beautiful citrus-scented toiletries.

All the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, making every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The hotel's website clearly and truthfully explains the location and features of every room.

Just returned from a trip to England and we stayed at The Bull Hotel for 2 nights. This was our second stay at this hotel and we enjoyed it even more than last time.

We stayed in the Flamingo Room (with two twins) and it was clean and comfortable with nice fixtures. You can hear noises from downstairs and guests passing your room but nothing excessive. You would hear these type of background noises at any other Hotel or B&B.

The food was great. My daughter loved the Fish and Chips on the childrens menu, I loved the English cooked breakfast. There is outside dining, bar dining or restaurant dining. This year we discovered the children's play room which was a great safe place for my daughter to play, while we dined feet away from the play room.

Room Tip: Also check out Lula (for lunch) and the Olive Tree restaurants

I stayed for 2 nights at the Bull in August 2012. I had read how nice it was in several reviews and was looking forward to my stay. I had a petit double room at about £150 a night.
One half of the room was lovely, the other half was terrible, I could have been in a cheap B&B.
The bathroom was dismal. the carpet was well worn, the bed cover was stained and the room was really dusty and the wires from the tv and dvd were a mess in such a small space.
The hotel however was fab, a great atmosphere and wonderful staff and food.
They really do need to look at this room as I felt well and truely fleeced, I hate complaining but I felt in this case I sould, havent heard from them so here is my review and a few photos!

Room Tip: Dont book the petite double, its a real disappointment
