“Hardly worth £22 for two*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

We visited on Aug 21st which was one of the best days of the summer in Dorset. Frankly we were disappointed in the lack of colour on display in the Gardens. Were it not for a huge number of Hydrangeas there would have been very little to see as far as colour is concerned.

We appreciate that most visitors have posted far more favourably than this review but must say that a £5 admission would have been more than enough !

The service in The Colonial restaurant, in itself quite authentic, was incredibly slow, 20 minutes for a coffee! The service levels not helped by a number of young inexperienced students, perhaps?

* in mitigation, if you visit alongside a visit to Abbotsbury's Swannery, also £11 each, there is a combined entry fee of £16. Sadly our visits to both were some 6 weeks apart and a total of £44 for both for my wife and I is nothing short of scandalous!

“Another great visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

We've been to Abbotsbury a number of times over the last ten years. We visited again in early August. We had some delicious morning refreshments (juice and cake) before spending over 3 and a half hours walking around. The setting, planting and atmosphere were great as ever. The view over the sea was perfect - a nice sunny clear day, able to see to the very tip of Devon we think. The shade from the trees made it a nice place to visit even on a warm sunny day.

“Very nice but not cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

My family and I visited these gardens whilst on holiday. We did a combined ticket with the childrens farm and swannery and did it through Tesco Clubcard vouchers so did not cost us anything. The gardens were lovely and we spent a couple of hours here. Would recommend how we did it as its not cheap to visit.

“Exceptional gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

What a surprise! This was an absolutely magical place. Really beautiful. Stunning plants thoughtfully laid out. Maintenance is unobtrusive. Will come here again. Cafe is good and the shop is also excellent. You can combine this ticket with the swannery (and the children's farm) for £16 per adult. There are family deals available. As these attractions must be costly to run (and are very well kept) this seems very reasonable.

“Nice gardens, unfriendly unhelpful staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

The gardens are very nice, but it is expensive, even if you buy the combined ticket to get you in the Swannery and the children's farm. The visit was really let down by the staff who are clearly of the school of thought that dealing with the public is beneath them. Unhelpful and uninterested - don't expect a smile!
