My wife and I stayed at the Woolacombe Bay Hotel for three nights from 15 th to the 18 June and the location of the hotel and the views must rank as some of the best in the UK. The staff were polite, efficient and made you feel a valued customer. The food in both restaurants was very good and reasonably priced.
I would have ranked this hotel higher but for two problems. The hotel had a wonderful lawned area with excellent seats but service from the hotel in this area was non existent.
Additionally we booked a sea view room and whilst the view from half the window was superb the other half was blocked by the overhang from adjacent rooms which were further forward.

Room Tip: If you book a sea view room do not have room 307

We held our wedding reception here on the 10th May and couldn't have been happier with how the day unfolded. Everything ran so smoothly, even changes made during the day due to the weather, which wasn’t the kindest. I'm sure the main reason for this was the brilliant Events Manager, Adrian. Having booked the venue over a year ago we had already got to know Adrian well and his friendly nature, hard working ethic and attention to detail at previous meetings gave us great confidence that everything was in hand for our big day. Any problems that occurred on the day, we weren’t aware of, which is exactly how it should be on your wedding day.

All the staff over the weekend were so welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. Must also give a special mention to Sharon & Sam

(office) for all their hard work in the lead up to our wedding and the Master of ceremonies 'Ray' who as well as lending encouraging comments to the speech makers, worked tirelessly to ensure all guests were feed, watered and in the right place at the right time.

The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. We opted for the gala buffet for our wedding breakfast, of which there was a lot of choice. We had a buffet in the evening, of which all was eaten. Everyone commented how much they enjoyed it.

The Lancaster Suite is a beautiful ballroom that does its job best when there is a lot of people to cater for. We had two big families coming together so it was perfect for us, both for the day and evening. The room upstairs from the suite, before the lounge, is perfect for the guests who prefer it a bit quieter, and like to look on at what is going on.

All in all our experience of using Woolacombe Bay Hotel is a hugely positive and memorable one. We haven’t even mentioned the rooms, breakfast and our evening meal on the Sunday at the Brasserie. All of which were first class.

In recommending the hotel to an engaged couple, whether local or not, I would not hesitate to recommend the Bay. It really is a true credit to North Devon.

Lovely lunch, great setting and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

However, when did it become socially acceptable to land your helicopter with 30 meters of people sunbathing (with no warning, or any staff marshalling a safety area). Am now eating all the freshly cut grass. Thank you.

My husband and I stayed for two nights. On arriving in Woolacombe we were very pleased with the initial look of the Edwardian style hotel. It is set in lovely grounds with a superb view out to the beach. We were greeted by friendly staff and allowed into our sea view balcony room just before 4pm which was great as we had treated ourselves to an aromatherapy massage in the Haven Spa at 4pm.(I would definitely recommend at £65 for a 55 minutes head to toe massage.)
Following the fantastic treatment we made our way up to our room. The room wasn't huge but had everything you would need and unlike some other hotels I've been to recently there was plenty of hot water and a good shower and a comfy bed. The view from our balcony was as promised with seats to relax and enjoy it. We ate in Doyle's restaurant the first night which was very nice. Great food and service and lovey décor. The second night we ate in the Brassiere. Again good food and service and a more relaxed environment than Doyle's.
We had a fantastic weekend in Woolacombe and would definitely stay again at this hotel.
Couple of minor points to note - the rooms have quite thin walls so a little noisy at times especially if they have a function on; we were a little disappointed that despite saying there was a dress code for Doyle's, a family were dining with children in very casual clothes at 9pm so made it feel less special; no water in room but there are tea & coffee making facilities.

Room Tip: Worth the upgrade to a room with sea view and balcony

We had a wonderful couple of days at the Woolacombe bay hotel in bittersweet family circumstances. The staff were helpful and friendly from the start of the booking process to paying the bill and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. The hotel is classy and the food and restaurant service excellent. The surroundings are of course top class too.

Our wedding was held here on May 17th, and everything, from our first enquiries, to the day itself, was perfect. Adrian the general manager could not have been more helpful at every step of the way, and all the staff were attentive and welcoming at all times. A special mention should go to 'Ray' the master of ceremonies provided by Woolacombe who made sure the day ran smoothly. We had a large number of guests stay at the hotel and received glowing reports from all. The food was all superb, and the venue spotless and beautifully decorated. We cannot recommend this highly enough, and look forward to returning every year for our anniversary

Room Tip: We had 'The Loft' for our honeymoon suite - fantastic room, two bathrooms, a study, amazing...
