“a gem of a beach............”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Picturesque, perfect sandy beach, gentle slope, seemed very safe and friendly, great for swimming, bodyboarding and surfing with the reassuring presence of the lifeguards, and on the north end: great rockpools, interesting geological formations and perfect sunsets.

“Family fun, but it's not the Caribbean!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

I've coming to Woolacombe on and off for over 40 years. The huge sandy beach is perfect for families and there is super surfing. Climbing over the rocks at low tide is fun. The downside is that it can get unbelievably busy on the beach and surfing can get quite hazardous due to the sheer number of bodies in the water. However the safe lifeguarded areas are well marked. Top tip, walk further down the beach for a less crowded area.

“Must be one of the best beaches in the world.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Huge expanse of golden sand, plenty of surf but safe enough for our kids to bodyboard, RNLI presence on beach reassuring. Get your kids a wetsuit and a bodyboard and you are set up for the holiday-weather permitting.
Wind break would have been a good idea. Parking a bit pricey- but £6.00 to the National Trust is money well spent on the maintenance of this pristine beach.
