“Wonderful location, fantastic hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2011

Sandunes has to be the best B&B I have ever stayed in. We were fortunate enough to have a sea view room with a balcony and could lay in bed and see the sea! Gill and Clive are great hosts, very friendly with lots of good local knowledge about restaurants, walks and surf conditions. Breakfasts were amazing with lots of choice. A good range a fresh fruit salads and great quality cooked food, with as much fresh coffee as you like. The place is immaculate but also relaxed. It is about 6 or 7 minutes walk from the village centre and the beach which is not a problem and means you don't get all the noise that goes with a busy tourist place. A real gem. We'll be back!!

We only stayed for one night, but would have happily stayed for longer if we didn't have to get back for work. Cannot begin to say how helpful and friendly the owners are. Lovely guest lounge area with fantastic views, a beautiful spot to share a bottle of wine. Woolacombe itself is very quiet out of season but I can imagine the hoards descending in the summer. Hope to return to explore the area further and would definitely stay at Sandunes again.

I can only agree with every other review in that Clive and Gill have absolutely 'nailed it' in every respect. The location is perfect, the views breathtaking, the rooms comfortable and extremely clean, breakfast choice extremely varied, well presented and most importantly well cooked. They cannot be faulted. An excellent place to stay and I would confidently recommend it. If I wanted to be really 'picky' the only thing lacking was bottled water in the room.

Have just returned from a stay at Sandunes on the recommendation of some friends who are regular visitors and they were right, it is a truely lovely B&B. We arrived later than we had anticpated and were due to meet friends for last orders in Croyde. We asked Clive for the telephone number of a taxi, however he took us there himself and waited whilst we made sure our friends were still there! We awoke the next morning to a stunning view of the beach, my partner could check the surf from bed! The room itself is beautiful, calm tranquil colours and a lovely en-suite, all immaculately clean.Breakfast was amazing, four different bowls of fruit salad to choose from, I then opted for the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs..yummy, whilst my partner had the full works..he still talks about the local sausages!
Gill and Clive are friendly hosts with good local knowledge. A great place to explore this lovely unspoilt part of the world.

We have just returned from a fabulous trip to Devon organised for us by our kids! Could have all gone so wrong! But they got it so right! Sandunes guest house is run by Gill + Clive who are so helpful and charming. The rooms are spotless and very tastefully decorated. Our room had a large balcony with sunbeds overlooking both the beautiful Devon countryside + the sea (This could also be admired from the large bath in our en suite bathroom!) A lovely place to relax. Its a short walk down to the beach + town to have dinner - a slower walk back to the guest house as its uphill but good for walking off the dinner! We spent the evenings in the guest sitting room, drinking a glass of wine + admiring the wonderful view from the windows. The beds are extremely comfortable but it was worth getting up for the superb breakfast cooked to order! Yum!
Sandunes is wonderful for a chilled break in Devon + we fully intend to book again! Missing it already.

We spent two nights here in early June and we were very impressed by both the accommodation and also the town itself. Clive and Gill were fantastic hosts and were always bright and cheerful. We booked a room on the top floor which had the benefit of a huge shared balcony with sun loungers, the view of the surrounding hills and the beach was fantastic! The room itself was bright, airy and very comfortable, the bathroom was well equipped and also had great views. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of options, everything was well cooked and presented. The location is also very good, only a five minute stroll into the town centre and a further five minutes to the beach. Woolacombe is a lovely little town with a great beach, great scenery and a great selection of restaurants and bars. We enjoyed our stay at Sandunes so much that we have booked again for three nights in August, can’t wait!

We have been to Woolacombe many times but this was our first stay at Sandunes, and yes, we will be coming back!
We had a balcony room with the most stunning views of the beach, the organic cooked breakfast is a great start to the day and Gill and Clive really make you feel at home.
The room was comfortable and spacious and the location is great. I would recommend Sandunes to anyone looking for a freindly, convenient place to stay.
