“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

The Bridge is beautifully situated on the river in Tiverton and ought to be a magnificent Victorian hotel. Unfortunately (and this pre-dates the current owners) it has been divided into as many small rooms as possible presumably to maximise income but has consequently lost it's soul. We had the 'family room' but fortunately didn't have a family as it was very cramped. It was 'en suite' in the it had a tiny 'pod' inserted in one corner with a very weak shower that you couldn't turn round in. There was a shared bathroom on each landing with a shower over the bath so at least I was able to wash my hair but it wouldn't have been possible in the pod (bit worrying as we were there for a wedding!!). The owners are very nice and helpful, sorting out an ironing board for me and happy to offer local information. It was clean enough and the bed was comfy. I'd read on Tripadvisor about the 'hearty' breakfasts but this was where they really came unstuck. As two veggies we were offered the basic full english without the bacon and sausage and with no attempt to make up the very empty plate with anything else. I just find this so penny pinching and/or unimaginative. It's only two minutes to the nearest shop where they could have got some quorn sausages. Or at least given us a whole tomato (a half looks so sad) or extra mushrooms or eggs. All this would have been acceptable and a bit of a laugh if it was cheap, but for £70? We left a day early. I know the owners are new and probably still learning, and that the layout and decor of the B&B are not of there doing but guys- please get the breakfast sorted.

Chris and his wife welcomed us with a cup of tea before showing us to our room, they were great, even getting us a fan when we were hot in the bedroom, they even helped us with our luggage when we arrived and before we left as we are disabled, a very understanding couple, would definitely recommend them for anyone to stay. We even met a Sir and lady from Beaconsfield on the next table, a good recommendation.

Room Tip: Our room on the 1st floor was a bit hot, not the fault of the hosts, we had an ensuite which was nic...

Had a lovely stay at the Bridge Guest House in Tiverton. Lovely location in town within walking distance of shops and restaurants . Beautiful garden overlooking the river and the room was very comfortable. Very cosy and welcoming with an excellent breakfast.

We stayed at the Bridge guest house last weekend. We have two children and they were made very welcome. The new owners (Chris and Songkran) are a delightful couple, the breakfast was very hearty and the price of the room was very good especially considering the views and location. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hosts went beyond what we expected to make our stay very pleasant. I am going to tiverton in august and i will definately stay again. Thankyou again

We as a family stayed in the Bridge Guest house, last wk.On arrival the owners(Chris and Sonkran)welcomed us with a cheery smile. They made us feel very welcome and fussed over my kids. They showed us to our room, which had been tastefully decorated, with fresh clean white linen on the beds. Each room has a TV and Tea making facility's.The bathrooms were spotlessly clean with nice new fluffy towels. The Guest House itself is only a few hundred meters from the town center which is easily accessible. It is situated on the rivers edge with stunning views from each room.Quiet at night so a good sleep was had by all.Full English breakfast or continental is included in the price, which was very good and enjoyed by everyone.Would recommend to anyone going to Tiverton.

Room Tip: Ask for room 9,large family room sleeps 4 people.

Just recently returned from the Bridge. Had a great 3 days, our room was very comfortable and beautifully clean. Thouroughly enjoyed meeting new owner Chris and his charming wife Songkran. They made us really welcome and were very acommodating for us during our stay. Breakfast was a choice of full english cooked to order, or a lighter option. It was a hearty meal and we did not need to have lunch !. Have recommended to our son and his wife as they are travelling to Devon in August.

My wife and I stayed at the Bridge recently whilst attending a family wedding nearby. The guest house is in a lovely location by the river and within walking distance of the town. We were given a cup of tea on arrival which was much appreciated after a long journey. Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, as was our en-suite bathroom. We both enjoyed our breakfast which was perfectly cooked to order. The new owner Christopher was a very genial host, and having only been at the bridge for a matter of weeks (which we later discovered) has created a great atmosphere. All in all, a very pleasent experience and would recommend as good value for money.
