The Bridge is beautifully situated on the river in Tiverton and ought to be a magnificent Victorian hotel. Unfortunately (and this pre-dates the current owners) it has been divided into as many small rooms as possible presumably to maximise income but has consequently lost it's soul. We had the 'family room' but fortunately didn't have a family as it was very cramped. It was 'en suite' in the it had a tiny 'pod' inserted in one corner with a very weak shower that you couldn't turn round in. There was a shared bathroom on each landing with a shower over the bath so at least I was able to wash my hair but it wouldn't have been possible in the pod (bit worrying as we were there for a wedding!!). The owners are very nice and helpful, sorting out an ironing board for me and happy to offer local information. It was clean enough and the bed was comfy. I'd read on Tripadvisor about the 'hearty' breakfasts but this was where they really came unstuck. As two veggies we were offered the basic full english without the bacon and sausage and with no attempt to make up the very empty plate with anything else. I just find this so penny pinching and/or unimaginative. It's only two minutes to the nearest shop where they could have got some quorn sausages. Or at least given us a whole tomato (a half looks so sad) or extra mushrooms or eggs. All this would have been acceptable and a bit of a laugh if it was cheap, but for £70? We left a day early. I know the owners are new and probably still learning, and that the layout and decor of the B&B are not of there doing but guys- please get the breakfast sorted.
