“Perfect family holiday with fantastic attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I don't quite know how to put this fantastic holiday into words, brilliant from booking to departure. We were due to stay for 5 days and extended our stay to 7 and as we left we booked for next year so as you can see this really is a special place. We stayed in Miss Tiggywinkle, it was clean, well equipped and welcoming, not to mention the fantastic private hot tub. Our children (8 and 7) loved every minute, there thoroughly enjoyed feeding times, the donkey rides and the goat walks. They felt like real farmers and didn't want to leave. The playbarn and games room were well equipped and the children and adults really enjoyed playing there.
The attention to detail of the whole holiday was exceptional and I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday to families who want to spend some quality time together and watch their children flourish. See you next year for some more New Year's Eve fun, I'm not sure if my children will count down to Father Christmas or to our North Hayne's trip next year.

Room Tip: Phone Cheryl and ask for advice, she is very honest and will know which cottage will suits your need...

We have just returned from a fab weekend at the Jemma puddleduck cottage. We received a lovely warm welcome from Cheryl & the cottage was immaculate. Child friendly with all safety measures in place & the table set up with fresh flowers, beautiful homemade cream tea & high chair all set up ready for our 18 month old to get stuck in! We took our own travel cot just incase the one there wasnt up to scratch but it was & also included extra mattress which we had also taken!! We also took our own baby monitor but there was one in the cottage or us to use. we couldnt have asked for more! Save room in the car as you wont need these things! Our tesco shopping had been put away which was a fabulous touch. The hot tub was absolutely bliss, so relaxing. Animal feeding time was fun too & the games room was fab, lots of toys. We visited Barnstaple. south Molton & Woolacombe during our stay. Already looking forward to returning next year. A perfect holiday location for young families, couldn't recommend it enough :)

Wow! Great from start to finish.
Such a warm, friendly and welcoming farm!
Cottage was well equipped and very clean whilst being cosy.
Its the little touches like having tesco delivery unpacked and organised for our arrival, less stress for us worrying about doing a shop.
Play barn was well equipped and kept the boys entertained.
My 3 boys loved being able to feed the animals twice daily and being able to walk a goat on a lead.
All in all a super family holiday! We have even booked to go again.

We have just spent our 9th stay at North Hayne Farm Cottages, and we will be back again at Easter. We stayed in Tom Kitten cottage, which had been tastefully redecorated and refreshed since our last stay and was, as usual, spotless, warm and cozy. Our daughters still love to be around to feed the animals and race around the farm or chill out in the hot tub. There is something ever so slightly magical about the place and we absolutely love it! It is the people who really stand out here though. Cheryl, Roger, Jenny and Reg really do go the extra mile to be the most perfect hosts. As our stay coincided with Halloween, we took part in the inter cottage pumpkin carving competition (pumpkin provided) and the visit of Grizelda the Witch. We cannot imagine a better family holiday venue!

Room Tip: Contact Cheryl direct to make sure of availability if you want a cottage with a hot tub - they fill...

What an amazing place, just as the other reviewwers have said. The fact that there are so many return visitors says it all. From start to finish everything was perfect and the owners Cheryl & Roger, Jenny & Reg couldn't do more. The directions given on the website were excellent and the farm easy to find, just 5 minutes from the A361 which is a main road and takes you to lots of interesting places to visit.

We arrived about an hour earlier than we were meant to and got a very warm welcome from Cheryl who showed us around our cottage, Peter Rabbit. It was spotless, and as the person below said, cosy but spacious with all modcons but still felt like a farm cottage. Cream tea & fresh flowers laid out on the table waiting for us and tesco and farmbox shopping packed away. Peter Rabbit is an upside down house built into the side of a hill. Downstairs is the main front door, wellie boot box outside (brill!), double bedroom, bunk bed room - complete with a bed gaurd on the bottom bed as we had requested. Both with ample clothes storage. Bathroom with shower over bath, bathmat, toddler stool for toilet etc. Stair gates at top and bottom of stairs. Upstairs was an open plan kitchen/living room/diner with frech doors onto your own garden with private hot tub and BBQ. Gate leading to gardens and children's play area. Kitchen was well stocked with all equipment you could need, no washing machine but there is a free one in the nearby laundry room and a dryer with honesty dish. Cottage has a washing line outside and an airer to put up inside. Booster seat strapped to dinner chair for our 2 year old. We requested a baby monitor just so we could hear them when we were outside in the hot tub. Flatscreen tv, dvd player and a video player. Good selection of DVDs in the games room to borrow and some in the cottage. Same with books, both for adults and children.

The courtyard has a wendy house and some toy tractors, which our 2 year old son loved. The games room has a piano, pool table and table tennis. The playbarn every type of toy imaginable and was a great place for kids. There are no cars in the courtyard once everyone has unpacked so its nice and safe. Our 4 year old daughter and 2.5 year old son loved (and my husband and I) loved going to the animal barn each morning and tea time and getting the little buckets of food from farmer Jenny and then feeding the rabbits, chickens, alpacas, ducks, Patrick the pig, goats and donkies. In the morning we also checked for eggs (planted for children's benefit if hens not co-operative) and had a donkey ride, escorted by Farmer Roger and Farmer Reg. Bike helmets of various sizes are provided for this. You can take down your vegetable peelings etc to feed the animals and your recycling as there is a room in the barn with the various bins. As it was Halloween there was a sppoky farm trail laid on. 8 laminated pictures of witches dotted around the grounds, find them all and the first letters of their names spell a halloween word. Each day Monday-Friday there was a laminated picture of a pumpkin who moved from one animal area to the next each day. At the end of the week you took your list of where they were to the farm house and were rewarded with a pack of sweets, same for the witch hunt. There is an over 5s or under 5s activity pack for everyone, again rewarded with sweets when completed. The Wednesday was Halloween and each cottage took their carved pumpkin (pumpkin provided for you), over to the games room, which was decorated for the season. The children were all in fancy dress costumes and we all eagerly awaited the arrival of witch Grizelda! Grizleda arrived and judged the pumpkin competition and gave out prizes to the winner and runner-up. Everyone got a certificate and small pack of sweets. Grizelda then posed for a photo with each child that wanted. On Friday morning the children went to the games room and sat around the table tennis table and decorated pumpkin and ghost shaped biscuits. At the end Cheryl gave each child a certificate thanking them for their help feeding the animals, a photo of them on a donkey and a photo of them with Grizelda. All of these activities were free/included in the price. Eggs can be purchased for £1.25 per half dozen.

We visited Lynton & Lynmouth cliff railway, the bIg sheep, Exmoor zoo (both paid with Tesco vouchers), Quince honey farm, Arlington court and went for a walk to the Blackcock pub for lunch. We had a take out from the Indian in South Molton, which was nice and reasonably priced. The children had 2 Jack Chilli meals each which were good quality. We ordered the deluxe chocolate cake from Cheryl and it was delicious. We also both had a massage in our cottage with Lisa and I had a facial by Nikki - both fantastic and helped make the holiday. Hot tub was great and is checked twice a day by farmer Roger.

Can't wait for our return trip next year.

We spent a week at North Hayne Farm at the beginning of September this year. We stayed in Peter Rabbit cottage which was perfect for us with our two children aged 4 and 18 months. The cottage was very cosy, yet spacious and included everything that we needed for our stay. It was particularly useful that bedguards, cots, highchairs, stair gates etc were all included and were all set up when we arrived. We also used the online shopping service from Tesco and it was lovely to arrive and find all of our shopping ut away for us.

We received a wonderful welcome from Cheryl who showed us around the cottage and made sure we had everything we needed.

The children absolutely loved feeding the animals twice a day and particularly enjoed the daily donkey rides. Roger, Cheryl, Reg and Jenny do an amazing job and are great with the children.

The cottages are situated in a beautiful part of North Devon and there are many beautiful places to visit nearby. We particularly enjoyed Croyde and Lynton and Lynmouth.

Having not been away in this country for many years, I had mixed feelings about a holiday in Devon, however, we had an absolutely amazing time and have even booked to go back next year. Thanks you to North Hayne for restoring my faith in holidays in the UK.

I would highly recommed a holiday to North Hayne to anyone.

We have just returned home having spent a fabulous week at North Hayne Farm, staying in Mrs Tiggywinkle's cottage. The cottage was cosy, immaculately clean and had all the mod cons you could need, not to mention the extras such as stair gates, baby monitors, bed guards, a bath mat and even a bath step! We had a lovely welcome, including a cream tea and run down of the facilities and more importantly information about animal feeding times which our toddler loved! She also enjoyed a daily donkey ride on Abbott. The farm is ideally situated just off the A361 which makes it an ideal base for sightseeing, We recommend Lynton and Lynmouth fenicular railway, Woolacombe beach and The Big Sheep for fun family days out, Thank you to Cheryl, Roger, Reg and Jenny for your hospitality and making our week away all the more enjoyable!
