“fantastic family holiday cottage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

North Hayne farm is fantastic for families. The cottages are lovely, very comfortable and nicely decorated. We shared Samuel Whiskers with family and it was great. Lots of extras are provided- bbq, washing line, children's cutlery, high chair, cot, activity packs for the children, a playroom, outdoor play areas etc. The staff are all very friendly and approachable. My daughter is nearly 2 and really enjoyed feeding the animals and riding the donkey every day. It is also in an area that is near lots of devon's attractions- both coastal and inland. We will definately be returning here!

This is our family's 5th visit to North Hayne Farm and it will be our daughter's enduring childhood holiday memory. Every year Cheryl & Roger improve the experience. Ably assisted by Jenny & Reg and without a cloud in the sky this year is turning into one of our best ever. Every morning and evening the animal feeding provides a great experience for the children and allows the parents to enjoy the hot tub safe in the knowledge that their little darlings are having the time of their lives, or if you're like most a chance to turn the clock back 40 (ahem...) years and feed the animals themselves.

This year saw us visit Linton and Lynmouth, Tarr Steps, Combe Martin amongst other places, in the wonderful Devon surround, always returning to North Hayne for the evening feeding ritual. Always a pleasure to meet other parents who, like us, seem to walk around with a permi-smile :-)

See you next year folks!

Room Tip: Katie's Corner is our favourite as faces the centre of the farm and the feeding. The outside sea...

Our June week at North Hayne Farm was our third visit and we have booked for our fourth visit in 2013. Our three generation family stayed very happily in Squirrel Nutkin cottage and appreciated the separate living and dining room to give us valuable space. As Granny to one and four year olds, I took them over to the playbarn each early morning to give Mum and Dad a welcome lie-in. Everything went well, although we would have liked more sun.

Three generation families: look no further. your under-sevens will love North Hayne and you will feel you've had a wonderful break. The owner's excellent website will tell you more.

We've just returned from a weeks stay here. We shared jemima puddle duck with our friends and their baby and it was perfect for 2 families. They had the main bedroom downstairs, we with our 2 children had the 2 bedrooms upstairs.

This cottage is great because it is tucked away at the back so the kids are right next to the play area and we could be on our patio or inside and watch them play.

The owners are what makes this place, our 2 year old had a particular liking for Jenny who helped her feed the animals every day. All of them are very kind and helpful and wonderful with children.

I would very much recommend a stay here and we will be back for Christmas!

Thanks so much Cheryl, Roger, Jenny and Reg!

Have returned today from our first family holiday and we stayed at North Hayne Farm. It was very sad to leave today as this venue is just brilliant. We have two boys (aged 2 & 4) and there was soo much for them to do like feeding the animals, riding the donkeys and toy tractors, playing in the playbarn. There was lots of room for them to run about in as the farm is set in ten acres. Our boys were given an activity pack on arrival which included an animal feed checklist (they each received a certificate once they fed all the animals) and a treasure hunt list which took us all over the farm (they received sweets once they completed it).

The cottage which we stayed in (Tom Kitten) was superb. Clean, well equipped and maintained to a high standard. There was puzzles, toys and books in the kids bedroom which they enjoyed. The hot tub was nice to use as well.

Its the little thing that make this place so amazing such as putting away our supermarket home delivery food, cream teas on arrival (which went down a treat!) and the treatments that are on offer.

The family that own North Hayne Farm are exceptional. So pleasant to talk to, always have time for you and they are great with the children, the kids love them. For some of the other families staying onsite, it was not there first visit. Two families we spoke to said it was their second time, and one family said it was there fourth / fifth time. The reason they have come back (and keep coming back) it because its a great place to stay. We intend to go back in the next couple of years.

The location is great as well as you are within easy reach of the coast such as Ilfracombe, Croyde and Woolacombe and other attractions in North Devon. The beach at Woolacombe is lovely, we visited it twice.

I recommend to any young family looking to holiday in Devon to stay at North Hayne Farm

We have 4 children aged 10, 8,6 and 3 and the whole family thoroughly enjoyed this holiday. We haven't stayed at a farm before and I can't imagine ever finding somewhere as good as this.

Yes, the accommodation is excellent, yes the hosts are lovely, welcoming and have a wealth of experience and yes the games room, play areas and facilities are great.

What's hard to do justice to is the experience the children have when feeding and helping with the animals in the morning and evening. The children get so much from this experience, you watch their confidence grow each day, Cheryl and roger have a natural ability to incorporate all ages into each session ensuring that each child enjoys themselves on the farm. The children had daily donkey rides, fed a variety of animals, completed activity packs and even took a lamb for a walk!

We can't think of any disadvantages or drawbacks to this holiday.
We would highly recommend it, it really is a perfect place to go with your family.

It is our second time here and never disappoints. The feeding of the animals is a key attraction and the kids love it (everyone loves a ride on the back of a donkey first thing in the morning). On a rainy day the Quince Honey farm with its soft play and bees is great and only 3 miles away. With good weather, the beaches are only 30 mins away. The Black Cock Inn is just about walking distance from the farm and is a well run pub. We stayed across the Jubliee weekend and while the weather was not great, we still had a relaxing time and little William enjoyed running about feeding the various animals. Your only issue is in finding a free week as families such as us book a year ahead and hence across the spring / summer / autumn there is limited availability.
