Description: Very good road side old inn restaurant close to the main A30 junction and the village of Sourton. Often very busy because of the good restaurant and the many communities close by. Easily worthy of a listing under Sourton which is a busy junction where lots of families stop off travelling in and out of Cornwall. Recommended.

Very busy pub so it might be an idea to book, we waited a while for our food but it was well worth the wait. My husband had steak and kidney in ale and I had salmon and pesto potatoes and vegetables all was cooked lovely. Toilets in a good state and restaurant found clean and tidy

“Lovely New Year menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

Stayed here for New Year and enjoyed the set menu - the food was very very good, my husband loved his steak, the starters were delicious and the desserts generous. The whole ambience was lovely from the traditional decorations to the friendly waiting staff. I couldn't fault it, the prices were really reasonable and the cooked breakfast the next morning was fantastic, 10 out of 10 for the delicious sausages! Would happily return.

“Cosy, traditional Westcountry retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

The pub is a picture postcard country pub, in a truly beautiful setting. Watch your head as you go in, I'm a not too freakish 6'2" and had to crouch most of my way through the pub!

The bar is small and welcoming and there's plenty of other little nooks and a large restaurant to sit in. We were only here for a small lunch but both of our dishes were truly amazing. I had the home-made pate which aside from being delicious in of itself came with an amazing onion & red pepper marmalade. Really staggering. My girlfriend had the ploughman's which comprised of 3 local cheeses and a big chunk of bread. The cheeses were chosen well and were complimented by a lovely chutney.

Service was good, everything arrived in a timely manner and the ales to accompany the food were kept very well. All was also very reasonably priced. We're planning to return for more very soon!
