“Wonderful, Romantic Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

My Fiance and I love North Morte Camping, we stayed here a while ago and it is always the first place we look to when we want peaceful camping with stunning views. The pitches may not be the most even, and dont expect on site night clubs and the like, (if you after 'that' type of Chavvy camping, go to Woolacombe) but what you will get is a view to rival most in the south west, you can see the lights of lundy Island at night, and with very little light polution, the stars on a clear night are an attraction of their own!!! It is also in a fantastic location, within easy walking distance to at least 2 local pubs, fish and chips and other village restaurants. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in the area. Thank you North Morte Caravan & Camping for a lovely weekend, we hope to see you soon.

The facilities are well kept, clean the camp site is right next to the coast path, on rolling hills. There is plenty of space and the tents are usually set more than 4 metres apart. The atmosphere is good, calm and respectful with party goers and groups unwelcome. I've not done much camping but would recommend this location and setting. The weather was perfect at the time, the scenery and walk to the neighbouring beach all made it perfect.

Arrived after an impromptu decision to have a weekend away, and decided on this place as it looked idyllic! We liked the position and the fact that there are no set pitches...! Arrived in the evening and by the time we set up it was pitch black, however found a spot that seemed lovely right on the cliff overlooking the sea. We had a very windy night, but managed to get some sleep and woke up to the most spectacular view ever..! Such an amazing spot. Facilities were clean, and plentiful and the showers were hot, free and welcoming after a windy night. Helpful staff in the shop always help matters. Nice touch that the campsite has its own pathway down to a very secluded beach, which was nearly empty! Perfect for paddling, swimming and rockpooling!
Would stay here again - preferably on a nice calm sunny weekend!

We have been here for the last few years whilst novice campers. This is by far our favourite location and whilst basic has everything we want and need. I like the rough nature of just finding a spot and putting up your tent, sitting back with a beer and watching the sea. No regulation, marked out pitches and strict rules. Find a spot and get on with it.

We have never found it difficult to find a pitch even when turning up later in the day. The showers are clean and adequate for what you need.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and Woolacombe offers surfing, sitting in the sun and long walks across the beach. We have even been to this area at New Year (although we didnt camp of course) and stayed at one of the pubs. Excellent and breathtakingly beautiful even in the Winter. Took a walk on the beach as well.

Sadly as our children are getting older we are now down to the three of us as our boys want to do other things. However, we are going here again next weekend and hope to get one final camp in this year before the summer ends. Camping is what you make it and this place at North Morte Farm is just perfect for us.

We have been twice this year for short breaks to this site. Its a wonderful place. We love that we can pitch anywhere we like and that there's a sea view from any area. Its quiet and relaxing, the camp shop not very big but has all basic stuffs with friendly staff. There a couple of mobile vans that visit some nights of the week selling fish and chips and fresh fish. The site seems to attract a nice clientel too, our fellow campers have always been responsible thoughtful family people. We love it!

We've stayed here several times. We have a campervan and awning and find the site reasonable, quiet and well placed for walking, surfing and pubs.

The site is quite undulating and some bits are on a proper hill but we've always managed to find a fairly level spot. There's always a view of the sea and the sunsets. The loo blocks are immaculate and I've never had to queue for a shower.

The shop is well stocked and there's also a shop and chip shop plus two pubs in the village. Walk a bit further to Woolacombe for more pubs, cafes and surfy type shops.

It's a lovely walk along the coast path to Ilfracombe and you can get the coast bus back. It's a steep walk down to the nearest beach from the site but it's a really pretty little spot.

Room Tip: Find a level spot!

This campsite is very well maintained and has lovely views. I Would recommend it to anyone. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and modern. Nearby Woolacombe is beautiful with a great beach. We recommend the pancake house in Woolacombe which does great gluten-free pancakes.
