“Good pub grub.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012 via mobile

Nice clean pub that catered for children. No rowdy locals and a good menu. Friendly staff and I'd go there again if I was looking for good pub grub.

Good pub grub close to the centre of town, but not outstanding. Crab sandwiches excellent. Friendly staff.

“Glad to be back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Ate here last year and noted a similar menu. No problem - if it's not broke don't fix it!. Food was good, the portions good and reasonably good vaule for the area. A good range of food from paninis to full salads to seafood which catered well for the various appetites in my party. I found the burger great. Either home made or a good quality bought in one which relied on the quality of the meat for flavour rather than being overwhelmed by seasonings which usually disguise poor quality meat. However, although the food was good, in other ways the place seemed to have gone a little downhill from my last visit. The staff seemed busy, but not doing too much. Despite this the wait for food on a busy lunchtime was not too long but the barstaff seemed to have little ability and were disorganised. I was glad I was drinking shandy as the Doombar bitter, although clear, was not pleasant. I often drink this and this was not good, an almost acidic taste indicating that it had not been kept well. Would I go back? Possibly for the food but not the beer.

“A big disappointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

Sunday dinner at around 19:00, with a reservation for 8. How can a pub/restaurant that offers a "Sunday Roast" all day run out of roasts before evening service has really started? How can a seaside pub/restaurant run out of haddock and half-an-hour later, cod?

My scallops on black pudding turned out to be five scallops halved sideways to give 10 slices, and the black pudding was crumbled.

We did not gave a good meal, nor a good experience. I'll not be back.

“Visited at random”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

whilst on holiday in the area. Managed to accomodate 3 families efficiently. Food arrived in good time and was well received, staff and management very pleasant. No complaints on any meals, based on the adult, childrens and vegetarian options that we ordered. Would visit this safe bet again if in the area.
