The accomodation was perfect for our needs. Comfortable , well equipped, quiet, well cared for, and support was there if we needed it. The log burner and bath were there to look forward to at the end of the days outing, which included 4 walks in chilly conditions!

We stayed in the Garden Rooms which have a homely feel but are spacious and well equipped. We didn't hear or see any other guests so it felt secluded and peaceful - just what we wanted. The view is delightful from the terrace so we sat out there for our pre-dinner drinks regardless of the weather watching the bird of prey and the foxes go about their business.

It is a short walk into the pleasant town of Kingsbridge though the first 20 metres on the grass verge may not suit all. There is plenty to visit and do in the local area and plenty of information provided to help you decide where would suit you most including maps and leaflets.

Susi and her team clearly pride themselves in striving to exceed expectations. They did ours. Thank you.

We have been visiting Lower Coombe Royal since our daughter was five months old, she is now three years old. This time we visited with our daughter and our new arrivals, five month old twins. This could have been an extremely daunting task under any other circumstances but definitely not the case with Lower Coombe. As always, our visit exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is perfect for our needs and very clean and well maintained. Every detail is taken care of and the thought that goes into the provision of toys and books for the children is heart-warming. Susi and Richard were absolutely charming as always. Richard went out of his way to provide new toys and Susi left a lovely dress up costume for our daughter to wear. Seeing our daughter so happy and comfortable is priceless. I could go on and on in my praise but have twins to get back to and previous reviewers have summed up the outstanding features very well. We are already looking forward to our next opportunity to escape and recharge!

Thank you so much for your heartfelt feedback - it is wonderful to have such a lovely family to stay with us again and again. Even more rewarding is watching the family grow, Eman is beautiful and the twins - well just delicious, those smiles would make any heart melt! :) Susi.

We have just returned from a fortnight's stay at Lower Coombe Royal and what a treat it has been. We stayed in the Garden Rooms which is part of the main house, which also includes the Lawn Apartment and the Royal House (the Coach house is in a seperate building) but that should not put you of if you are in for a quiet relaxing holiday as the entrances and terraces are situated away from eachother and you cannot hear or see any of the other visitors. The patio, which we could enjoy because of the fabulous weather is not overlooked apart from by a few cows in a field opposite the estate. The garden rooms are very well appointed and sleep two in an enormous king-size bed. I do believe there is room for a cot though if there is three of you. The accomdation has everything you would want/need and is lovelingly furnished. Usually pictures on a website are better than they real thing but this was not the case here as it looked even better than on the website. The welcome we received on arrival by Richard, the hamper, the card and flowers made us feel at home straight away, and we were more than happy to stay 'in' for a few days during our holiday to enjoy the house, our patio and the lovely gardens.
It is ideally situated between the lovely beaches of south Devon, Dartmour and Exeter and Plymouth so there is something for everyone in the area. Lower Coombe Royal is located within walking distance of Kingsbridge, from which you can walk, catch a ferry or public transport if you do want to leave Lower Coombe Royal if you prefer to leave your car behind once you have arrived.
Well recommended you will not be dissapointed!

Room Tip: The Garden Rooms are perfect if you are looking for a romantic break for two.

We stayed in the Garden Rooms for a week in June with Henry our Black Lab.
We were met by Richard who was charming, he introduced us to the garden rooms. I have to say I was extremely happy with the accommodation, it exceeded every expectation. It was very very clean and very well equipped. It had a really lovely feel to it, compact but luxurious. The bedroom was amazing, lovely patio windows and one of the best beds I have ever slept in. It was huge with really lovely bed linen. I am never a good sleeper at the best of times, but I slept like a log.
Lower Coombe royal is a fantastic place to stay, it was so quite, we didn't see any one else who was staying in other locations. The gardens are huge
It is very well located for seeing the gorgeous sites of Devon, and only a short walk into Kingsbridge which again is beautiful. Lots of individual shops and places to eat.
I would have no hesitation in returning here. Who wants to go abroad when you can experience places like this.
Clearly everyone works very hard to sustain such a high level of service.

Room Tip: Depending on how many are travelling depends on what property you want, not all take dogs.

We stayed in the Royal House for a week in June. This is a beautiful setting with extensive gardens, and was perfect for our two boys aged 3 and 1. The rooms were very clean and were made up exactly as we had asked and there is a useful play room packed with toys. The only downside for me was that you have to drive everywhere if you leave the property. You can walk into Kingsbridge (through its suburbs) but not with young children (its too far). That said, given that the local attractions are spread out perhaps this would be true wherever one stayed. Overall I would certainly recommend the place and would happily go back.
